I think they lied and it paid off like the lottery. (I won’t hold my breath waiting for anyone to buy me a house but I am decent and wouldn’t ever ask for one).
They smoked packs of cigarettes a day for decades and were shocked god didn’t protect them from making bad choices. They were both magats. Being a magat with a generous, liberal sister who achieved the American dream is having your cake and eating it.
Their son is a magat, hanging onto an estate he was made executor of. He won’t close the estate bc he and his deplorable wife plundered it. Now they don’t want to explain the accounting. One beneficiary has passed away, 3 years ago. It was more than a year after he became executor.
The estate was nailed down. Estate planner was meticulous. Moderate size, papers all in order…magat left the house uninhabited for over a year. Value drop! Got a real estate agent to lie and say someone lived there to keep the insurance fraudulently …or did they rent it out and pocket the proceeds, also fraudulently? Gave the car to their son…refuse to send anyone any accounting. My cousinn wanted a rag doll to remember our aunt. They told her to “bid” on it. It’s now been more than 4 years.
They can actually use estate money to hire legal representation! Nothing says “fiduciary duty” like this kind of behavior. Two other beneficiaries are well into their 80s. It looks like they’re waiting for everyone else to die. Magat wife tried to bully my aunt into changing the terms of her will to skip her aging siblings while she was hospitalized with terminal multiple myeloma. Just sick people.
Since when does being “conservative” equate to having a moral compass? Or a conscience? Or a legitimate religion? Magat executor and wife are not Christians by any definition. I've found (rather unofficially; I have no qualifications) that the more intense a relationship between kids and their parents, the more likely they'll do one of two things as a result: a) be EXACTLY like them, or as close as they can get ("My boy...was just like me. :(" --Harry Chapin, "Cats in the Cradle"); or b) be 180 degrees opposite to them, like kids who were abused and bullied all their lives by their parents and make the conscious decision to /never/ be like that themselves.

What can you do now? First, make sure you are following your doctor’s orders: take your meds, and eat only what you’re supposed to eat. Are your medicines too expensive? Remember, President Biden took major steps to control drug prices, especially insulin. Ever since your “own-the-libs” guy took office, the prices of many drugs, especially insulin, have risen substantially. Now, the libs having been owned, you may have to make significant changes in your lifestyle, so that you can afford the meds that may keep you from going blind.
What else can you do to earn absolution for what you did? Tell your story. Tell it to anyone who will listen to you, speak in front of as many groups as you can, even liberal ones. Make sure that they know that the Republican Party doesn’t give a tinker’s dam about people like you; that you could go blind, deaf, and dumb, and be paralyzed from the neck down, and they wouldn’t lift a finger to help you. It turns out that almost all of the people in this country who would feel sorry for you and try to do what they could to help you are…the libs, the people you hate.
