From where I sit in Canada with a view of the US from my home, we are planning to boycott all travel to the US including us Snowbirds. In addition, we will not buy anything from or made by the USA. The last time the orange turd imposed tariffs on our goods, we imposed tariffs on everything from the red states. Trump was pressured by Reps and Senators to rescind said tariffs. He did, we did. Never piss off a Canadian, you're playing with fire. PM Trudeau is actually more popular than not, he's done more for Canada than any PM in my lifetime. Including his late father.

Us real Americans really won't blame you at all for doing what you have to do. (I didn't vote for the f-**kr btw) but we have to live with whatever is to come. I just hope that the borders don't get shut - my son is a Canadian citizen and it would kill me not to be able to spend time with him.

And half of our population will pout and say how come they're being so mean to us. It's not fair. Ugh. Thank you for doing your part to try to save us from this ghastly affair.

Big tariffs always lead to destructive trade wars. Tariffs are effective when used surgically, not when wielded like sledgehammers.

And who are Trump’s tariffs targeting? Our three largest trading partners — Mexico, Canada, and China.

Why is Trump enacting a policy that zillions of people have explained is disastrous? Who does destroying the American economy benefit?

Not the American people, that’s for sure. Only Trump’s real boss, Vladimir Putin (who is probably the actual richest person on earth).

That’s what happens when you elect a traitor to the presidency. Trump is going to make Benedict Arnold look good.

At this point I'm just hoping Lee Harvey Oswald will rise from the grave and do the right thing.

This is completely underrated and overlooked… let’s ask God.

Our Father, who art somewhere… can Mr. Oswald make a quick appearance? ASKING FOR US ALL

Oh, just wait when the price of lumber JUMPS through the ROOF again, like it did with Covid. I shall be simply saying, in the words of Sheldon, "I informed you thus-ly".

(And does tRump think that the tariffs will apply to the illegally smuggled drugs?)

John S. Way's avatar

I betcha he just does

Hannah's avatar

Probably. Most of the illegal drug supply comes by water. Even submarines. Yes, smugglers are caught through legal points of entry, not in the middle of the Rio Grande. This is just more of him trying to look tough. He doesn't give a shit about drug users.

He’s gonna blow it all up and then blame Biden and the Dems. Humans are so stupid and gullible. Thanks God, for making so many morons.

deniway's avatar

And people will believe that it was Biden and the Dems because they are stupid! So so frustrating.

If we burn, you burn.

A part of me, growing by the day, wants to see the Tariffs hit and hit hard on these MAGA folks. Especially shareholders, inherited business owners, etc. Those people that rake in the money from ordinary folks without any clue how business nor government actually works. There's enough on the top that have no clue wtf any of this really means that will burn for it and make it worth it on many levels.

The MAGA workers that refused to educated themselves and believes all information not a tiktok length trump soundbyte is a conspiracy deserve nothing better themselves.

Get yer China Orders out now for comfort items to see ya thru the next coming years. For the love of GOD don't hoard toilet paper, it didn't make sense during covid and makes less sense now.

Teddy Gingerich's avatar

I'm right there with you. I have a list of regularly used stuff in our little retired household that I need to stock up on before the coming shitstorm. Then I'm going to settle down and watch the world burn. I want to see all the tears of regret from the poor MAGA idiots who will literally not be able to afford groceries. From all the MAGA Midwesterners and Southerners who find their produce rotting in the fields because there's no one to harvest them From all the MAGA farmers whose chickens can't be turned into food, whose eggs can't be sent to stores - because all the people who did those shit jobs are gone.

And drugs will still come into the country because it's our own damn people running them.

Molly Burns's avatar

Unfortunately, as with most things, this will disproportionately affect the people who have the least. I can afford a hike in prices, and will also rejoice in the suffering of the magats, but I’d skip that if it meant avoiding more suffering for non-Trump-voters who are already struggling. 😞

Christie sebo's avatar

Good gosh, it really is true that our education system as it stands has failed us. Or has it? We are here because people didn't pay attention. The same people who didn't pay attention in class in the sixth grade are now crying in their beer, drenched in fear.

Molly Burns's avatar

They also stand poised to destroy the educational system, as it stands, so they can ensure lots of uneducated voters to fall for their BS.

Christie sebo's avatar

I worry about my grandson second grade in a Texas school.

Molly Burns's avatar

Well, he has at least one grandparent to represent rational thought. 🥰

Hannah's avatar

That's scary. Sorry. Hope the parents/guardian can supplement the education he won't be getting. Good luck to your family.

Maybe Michael Moore should do his next documentary on "Why Magas Can't Read"! 😂

Dear Lord, thank you for calling 45’s failing media site what it REALLY is, “LiesSocial”! I always hated to hear and read news where they referred to it as its original name, damaging and soiling the definition of the word ‘truth’. From here on out, I shall refer to it as LiesSocial, and encourage this rebrand into the vernacular.

John S. Way's avatar

We really are a joke, and not a funny one either. I'm currently arguing with someone on Facebook that claims to have seen the "benefits" of tariffs in the past and just mocked me for being "clairvoyant because some leftist talking head gave you some incomplete info" and it's hilariously stupid.

Hannah's avatar

Why waste your time.

John S. Way's avatar

It started out amusing, but eventually just got boring

This thing goes even deeper than that. These tariffs will stop construction! I hope the union guys that voted for Trump know they voted to end their high paying jobs. Musky and Trump hate unions and paying overtime. Trump has a plan to ruin the economy. He will no doubt try to blame Biden and is already trying to put blame on our current treasury secretary. When the economy turns to SHIT like it did under Bush in 08, but four times as bad, people will start losing their homes. Musky and Trump will be right there to buy up the houses and rent them back to the former owners at a high rent while telling them what a favor they are doing them. There is but one way to stop this SHIT FROM HAPPENING, AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT IS!

Hannah's avatar

Not just union construction. There are specialists in construction who make good money for their detailed work. Think $400 an hour. No more counter tops, specialty flooring, windows, wallpaper and on and on.

Investors will buy up their houses, tear them down and build multi-million dollar homes. At least that is my experience here on the left coast.

Donald Lipkis's avatar

I’m trying to figure out if Trump is dumb enough to not know how tariffs work or smart enough to know that his voters won’t recognize the grift.

Jan Frederick's avatar

Can you imagine! Instead of drugs, people will be trying to smuggle into the country, with small boats, things like maple syrup and auto parts! The dumb Maggots will probably STILL say they didn't think this would happen! Verily, I say unto thee, thou shalt not complain about getting what thee voted for!! Thank you, God! Amen! Awomen!

Josh's avatar

God, you nailed it again. The tariffs are just a money-making scheme for Trump and his cronies. Everyone else will get to stand in line to take it up the rear. And this royal ass-screwing will be while we're being told it's for our own good, because 'America first.'

This post itself convinced me to become a subscriber. I hope to see many more like it. Thank you God - for wading into the swamps and bringing us the reality checks as they happen.

Reality TV. Watchers know it’s contrived, scripted, the contestants know what’s in the basket, the count down is staged for effect, etc. But it is entertainment! If the show wasn’t engineered, it wouldn’t be interesting. Same for Trump! He’s an entertainer. His fans know he never lies, never apologizes, never concedes, never loses, always doubles down, always bullies and name calls, always belittles. So, if he changes his mind, it’s genius. If he switches horses in mid-stream, it was his plan all along. And it’s over in a few minutes, ready for the next episode. Just don’t change channels or you’ll miss the next bit!

Hannah's avatar

I'll settle for a summary later. We know where this is going.

Ellen's avatar

Stupid is as stupid does but Trump’s fans apparently didn’t believe him or weren’t listening.

The attack on education began with Dumbya and No Child Left Behind. I teach college students whose reading comprehension is on a third-grade level. Their writing is atrocious. They can't follow basic instructions. The schools graduate bodies because they need the funding. You, too, can graduate high school with a D+ average!

I have absolutely zero sympathy for these yokels (common clay, etc.). I lived in a rural area for a couple of years. Families had a tradition whereby all the girls got pregnant at 15. Their lives consisted of hatred for anyone not like them, drugs, alcohol, jail time, illiteracy, poor health, poverty, unemployment, and the biggest screen TV they could fit into their double-wides. One of the best days of my life was when I sold the house and got the hell out and back to city life. I hope they suffer. I know they won't have an epiphany, that's too much to hope for, so I their lives become even more miserable.

Nay, it began with Reagan and “Just say, no.”
