That sweet WW2 vet was right across the street from me. He sat there in the pouring rain just as we all did for hours. Beaufort NC represented.

Lulubelle's avatar

The crowd in Beaufort was much larger than I expected. In a very red part of the state. All of the trouble makers were busy at Big Rock so it remained very peaceful. What warmed my heart was how many were veterans, families of deceased service members, etc.

They are being so negatively affected by and disrespected by the current administration it is good they were there to show they also will not be ignored

What an amazing patriot the WW2 vet is. There are so few left. My heart aches that 80 years later, he is fighting fascists all over again. The Greatest Generation really gave it their all. It’s not fair. FCK YOU, TWITLER! ETTD! 🤬

...and represented with style and heart!!

Teri Gelini's avatar

I hope someone offered to help him during all this time

Lulubelle's avatar

He was with his family not on his own.

Glad to hear that he was not alone. What a brave and gentle soul to want to do that. My dad was a WW II vet and I am sure he would have wanted to do the same from his wheel chair as a result of the war.

My WWII vet dad died in 2015...on the one hand, I'm glad he didn't make it to see Trump get in. On the other hand, he would've smelled that shit coming a mile away, having WITNESSED IT before. >:-/

And until his last year, he was always very politically engaged, so I have no doubt he'd've attended an event any way he could, even though he would've been almost 103 himself. :)

For once Trump told the truth. It WAS a big day for America. Just not in the way he hoped or meant.

Well said, thanks! It was great to be with kindred spirits who love our DEMOCRACY!❤️

I was just going to say the same thing!

Our little town here in Minnesota, had planned a more festive sort of rally but then the news of our lawmakers being shot down brought about a sense of resolve, and more people showed up. It was cold and windy.

Love to you all in Minnesota 🫢🥲🥰🤗❤️❤️❤️♾️

Yeah it's quite the shock. And thank you. It feels so personal. The kind of anger the suspect bore was handcrafted, made in America. It's an entire industry of hate, complete with hats and t-shirts.( Not made in America.)

Here's a video from Chaska Minnesota - and a new song to sing! Please try to make this go viral!

I love this anthem! Thank you for sharing!

Nancy's avatar

Me too! Awesome song! :D

And good cops! :)

Thank you, God, for raining on his parade. The thunder and lightning was extra special!

Nancy's avatar

No flying! Woot! :D

Bet the angels were laughing their halos off, though... X-D

In St. Paul, Minnesota alone, more people showed up to the No Kings rally than showed up at the Big Beautiful Birthday Bash! Multiplied across the nation, from small towns to large cities, the message was clear: NO KINGS.

Nancy's avatar

Multiplied across the nation, apparently the numbers are more than 12 million, at most recent count... :D

NO STUPID RED CAPS.

NO TREASONOUS CONFEDERATE FLAGS.

NO KINGS.

GOD BLESS THE USA.

I wore a red cap - “Make Orwell Fiction Again.” It made a NYPD lieutenant smile when he saw it. We made a terrific noise and had lots of fun.

This is what Democracy looks like.

Nancy's avatar

New York must be groovy, if even the cops are well-read! :D

After watching the Big Birthday Parade for about two minutes my eyes glazed over and my mind wandered. And I found it difficult to believe that something so mind numbingly boring could have just been an accident. Kudos to the military coordinators who choreographed this disaster!!!

Nancy's avatar

Yeah, so many of them were pulled away from their home parades for the ARMY's birthday for this stupid thing; they really didn't look terribly happy to be there.

He should've screened them like he did at Ft. Liberty (nee' Bragg)... ;-)

But yeah, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if folks were feeling subversive: "Hey, Announcer Guy? Sound as bored as you possibly can. Make sure our 'Commander' falls asleep on camera as often as possible. ;)"

Kathy's avatar

I’ve heard it’s called a “silent dissent”. They showed up but you could see they didn’t want to be there. They didn’t even march in unison.

Hells Bells. Felon 47 worked hard for it and earned it. As my 35 year army veteran little brother would say, he's a mink. Apparently that's worse than a weasel. Apologies to the Mink AND Weasel Anti-Defamation Leagues :D

Nancy's avatar

A mink is a rich weasel. ;)

tecolote42's avatar

I'll share that with little brother : D

Oh my You! I roared with laughter at that “you’re an asshole” meme!!🤣🤣

In that picture of the orange menace his wife didn't look very pleased either. Like I said even in our little town we got a ton of people (for a little town) probably over 100 -200 EVEN though it was raining. And it was enjoyable and peaceful and everyone cheered NO KINGS, NO BILLIONAIRES~

Nancy's avatar

The few scenes I'd seen of Melania, she struck me as being secretly pleased...and not with Hisself's ickle li'l parade, but with the lousy turn-out for him. ;)

The difference between us and them: At the huge demonstration I attended, when the subject of Asshole's parade came up, and at the hopeful anticipation of God's plan to thunderstorm his disgusting fit of ego, sincere and tender concern for our military was expressed. "They deserve better." "I'm worried for them." "Some commander-in-chief! No care, no concern, no respect for the military. He just uses it and abuses it for his own personal gain." Can you imagine that any MAGAt expressed such concern for our military?

Thank you for answering many, many prayers.💜😁

‘I saw him do this and immediately blurted out, “You’re an asshole.”’ 🤣

The Proud Boys showed up to counter a No Kings Protest in Venice Florida. Sick. Always trying to distract, disrupt, and make it all about themselves

Punkette's avatar

I pray they didn’t hurt anyone.

DL Jr's avatar

It was a gloriously lame parade.

The real story is the MILLIONS speaking out!

Now, Blessed Ones, let us remind and remember: springtime for pedo taco wont happen . he may be president, he is not the final voice. Tick boom sounds follow him ...he knows he dudn't have long on the planet. And ahhh the lawsuits that will follow the families and the name!😘

Thank You , the Smites are delish!
