We live in Goodyear AZ, not too far from Luke Air Force Base, where they train fighter pilots from around the world pretty much all year round — amazing how loud that gets too. But fireworks are so random and go off all day on NYE and the 4th!
I'll be thanking the universe I'm English and Australian and I didn't know I had cousins in the US until there was no point in visiting them. I could have ended up there instead of here!!!

Much as I agree with all of this, I'll be taking my 85 year old mom to see the fireworks. She loves them, she has a limited number of opportunities left to see them, and refusing to take her would punish her, not the GOP or SCOTUS or Trump. So sadly I'll be there.

Sickened & horrified. I used to spend the 4th watching "Music Man" and "1776," but this year we're watching "Lilyhammer" again & trying to figure out how to get into witness protection so we can move to another, more pleasant and democratic socialist country (not fascist, not communist, definitely NOT Russia).
Sweden and Norway won't take us unless we're engineers. France won't take us at all because we are uncouth. Germany won't take us because Germany. Belgium might take us if we have a boat they can use with a slip on a relevant river or preferably the ocean. Ireland will take us if we can drink 6 pints of Guiness in an evening, so that's limiting. ( I cant' go but my SO can.) Thinking I can work my way up to Ireland.
I'm so concerned about how things are going, I took a plane across the pond...that's right, I want to see what I need to do to flee the country in case he decides to take over (plus my fiancée is here)
