Even if this falls under a military operation, under the Geneva convention, if your opponent is in a position where they clearly present no threat to you or your country (which was the case here), they have the right to surrender and become a POW. As such, they are to be treated humanely and questioned properly.
So, whichever way the Trump administration spins this, Hegseth had committed a crime. If they present it as a military operation, he had violated international rules of war and the Geneva convention and should be tried by a tribunal. If not - as you said, he had committed murder and should be tried as a murderer.
Absolutely. Or at the very least, spend the rest of his dried out, miserable life in a federal penitentiary (or wherever they hold war criminals) with Bubba, perhaps as a nice purse.
Why not? The way I see it is if he is a war criminal (or even just a murderer) he deserves to go to prison for life and if he happens to become someone's new piece of luggage while in there (because do you really expect the guy who whines about "fat generals" to really be a tough guy like that?) is it gonna be that surprising?
I mean, the latter is more likely if hes a war criminal. Either way though, punishment needs to be meted out as harshly as possible if he is tried and found guilty.
Even his own mother doesn't like him. She doesn't like that her scathing email to him was printed, for public consumption (I mean, who would?!) but she doesn't retract a word of it.
"Son,
I have tried to keep quiet about your character and behavior, but after listening to the way you made Samantha [Hegseth's wife] feel today, I cannot stay silent. And as a woman and your mother I feel I must speak out..
You are an abuser of women — that is the ugly truth and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth."
He's just a high-flyin' low-life. Woman abuser, murderer....just the best part of MAGA!
Once that email hit the light of day, there wasn't anything Hegseth could do to retract it. It's like nude photos...out there until the end of time. But Hegseth is in deepshit trouble because, as Prof. Ryan Goodman (NY School of Law) points out: "If the killing of these people on that so-called 'narc boat' is considered a 'war crime', then double-tapping that boat to kill survivors is a punishable crime and the order should not have been obeyed. If it is NOT a 'war crime', then it is flat out murder." And there are judicial tribunals available to ream his sorry outlaw ass.
I agree with you 100%! Btw, one of these days we are going to have the America’s version of the Nuremberg Trials 2.0 and all of the 🍊🤡’s staff and cabinet members will be saying: We were just following orders!
This is a dreaded moment. The time for choosing sides is here for our Armed Forces. Perhaps for awhile , they can pretend the orders were not received, were not understood, the missiles went off target. But the pillars of our Constitutional Republic are being isolated and eroded. It is not a good thing when generals must now determine if there is indeed a lunatic at the helm.
Either this was done under the auspices of war and it is a war crime according to international law OR we are not at war and this is cold blooded murder. Either way works for me, this regime needs to held to accounts, arrested, tried by The Hague, and put on floating debris in the middle of the ocean. They can sink or swim.
I now understand why Mark Kelly and other Congressional Democrats made the public service announcement to the military about disobeying illegal orders.
Last week I spoke with two men who had both served our country, one was a Vietnam Vet and the other more recently served. We fell into conversation about the boats being bombed off the coast of Venezuela. Imagine my shock and horror when both men said that Trump's regime was right to blow up the fishing boats in international waters.
I countered that
a) These are small boats with no way of traveling across the Gulf of Mexico.
b) Congress has to declare war in order for this to be legal in any way.
c) There has to be international laws about this since we are blowing up boats off the coast of another country.
They used the excuse of, "Well if they are drug traffickers, then they can be declared as terroristic threats and can be dealt with this way. The President can do whatever he wants."
I found this conversation deeply upsetting. I wish I had the knowledge you shared in this post, that Trump had pardoned actual drug traffickers, as a rebuttal. But I am just finding out about that today.
The fact that both of these men had served, and believed that the President has unlimited powers to do whatever the hell he wants is beyond disturbing to me.
I hope and pray that the International Court drags all of them in and tries them for crimes against humanity. Trump, Hegseth, and anyone else who followed the illegal orders.
But does that mean charges can't be brought against Hegseth? Germany probably wasn't part of it either during Hitler's reign, but that I didn't stop the Numerberg trials.
I hope he is tried, found guilty and if he does not get immediately scheduled for a visit to the injection table, then sent to wherever they keep war criminals to spend a long, dried out and miserable life behind bars.
If some people living on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico looked out over international waters and saw effing great huge ships and planes lurking, could they decide, "Oh! We are being invaded! Those people are bringing DEATH to our nation!"? Could they then bomb them, sink them? And expect nobody to complain or retaliate?
However, some people living over 2000 miles away see small boats puttering around in those same waters (possibly or probably fishing) and decide, "Oh! we are being flooded with DRUGS! Those people are bringing DEATH to our nation!" and then bomb them, sink them, murder everyone they see. And then expect nobody to complain or retaliate.
[But who cares? What a brilliant movie plot! The Rump and Hogsbreath are groaning and clutching themselves in ecstasy…]
The US knows how and where drugs get into the US. It's not Venezuela. But they don't care.
Hegseth secretary of murders. Why can’t anyone appointed or pardoned by the orange anus-mouth tyrant be arrested on RICO statutes when he’s out of office. If this isn’t a criminal enterprise what is? Just because they’re incompetent doesn’t mean there’s no organization.
Dear God: Hegseth is a murderer. I’m eating more vegetables so I’ll live long enough to see him tried at The Hague. They’re killing innocent fishermen. This is not the same as when your son told his disciples to be fishers of men. Yeesh. This regime is full of EVIL CLOWNS. Everyone knows who the real enemy is: The Killer Bees 🐝 🐝 🐝 https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQAXsikkqt0/?igsh=M3ljbHYzdng5OG0y
Since we aren't at war with Venezuela (yet), it's just cold blooded murder.
Hegseth must hang for it.

Yes, I know both ways. But as we aren't a part of the ICC (thanks W), it would be easier to just treat him as a murderer.
Columbia and Venezuela are parties to the ICC with 125 other nations. They have filed with the ICC.
Yes & then Petey would have to leave the US, because they can't touch him here.
Trump will just pardon him.
Depends on how long the case takes & the number of appeals
Absolutely. Or at the very least, spend the rest of his dried out, miserable life in a federal penitentiary (or wherever they hold war criminals) with Bubba, perhaps as a nice purse.
I didn't mean it literally.
Why not? Exactly, prison not the Gallows.
I mean, the latter is more likely if hes a war criminal. Either way though, punishment needs to be meted out as harshly as possible if he is tried and found guilty.
Enough dead, no hanging. Death penalty solves nothing, it's just another murder. Miserable bastard that hegseth is, however. Ugh.
Again, I didn't nean it literally.
Oh God you slay me! Pete Hagueseth hahahaha hahaha 😂 🤣😂🤣
Even though you’re writing about the depressing things everyday I hope you’re enjoying your time away.
Can’t wait til your back!
Thanks Rhoda, I had some downtime in transit and had to speak on this evil.
Thank you God! I’m glad we have you to speak on it…
AKA Pete Kegsbreath.

It's amazing he paraded that around. It's like they aren't smart enough to have shame.

Jesus said “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men". Not killers of fishermen.
I agree with you 100%! Btw, one of these days we are going to have the America’s version of the Nuremberg Trials 2.0 and all of the 🍊🤡’s staff and cabinet members will be saying: We were just following orders!
Today’s article makes me very angry. Not at you, but at this criminal administration. I hope you fry them all in hell.

If put on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch they too could learn to eat it, like some of the organisms already there, bottom feeders that they are…
Amen!
The poor can’t afford the going rate for a pardon.

The US does not belong to the International Criminal Court. I think they got out of it around the time we went into Iraq 👹
But does that mean charges can't be brought against Hegseth? Germany probably wasn't part of it either during Hitler's reign, but that I didn't stop the Numerberg trials.

JAG also wants to start trying the members of the military who obeyed the illegal order.
Yeah, try the little guys and let the big ones go 👹
Or try every single murderer, top to bottom.
