I won't be giving up any fight! I have lived well over 70 years without being intimidated by anyone. I don't care how much money that low class of a lout shithead draft dodger and his rich boy cheerleader throw around. If I were a few years younger, I would run for congress myself just to show that "Duty Honor and Country" are not dead!
TODAY I was about to bail. I'm so fucking tired. I'm the 60+ year old that fought most of these things already, just to watch them fall to that Thing. My heart is broken, my will to fight is weak. But, I'm still here ready to fight...for my kids...for my granddaughters and for everyone else's kids & grandkids. I'll fight until I we win our Country back.
So, yeah God...your words make a difference...and thank you...
I'm also 60+ and so tired. I was in high school when Roe was passed, and now I have to fight that again. They will come for contraception next.
I don't want to fight. I want to enjoy my retirement; I sure worked hard for it. I'm physically in worse shape than I was when I was working. But I'll do what I can.
Thank you for the encouragement. It’s tough to feel it at times. Substack is actually helping, in that there are those that both see and share their rays of light. So, even though it’s tiring, I feel that 70’s slogan is still true. “Keep on keepin’ on”.
We still need the "real" media - if you can find it. Time was you could trust a couple of the big names to provide all the news in an honest fashion. Unfortunately, that no longer applies - and substacks and social media commenters are necessarily biased and don't have the capacity to provide ALL the news. Big media companies have hundreds of employees and contacts, plus the money to go anywhere. Such a shame they have become warped.
It’s important to support our established media even if they are not perfect from time to time. Trump is actively trying to kill them so I don’t see why we should help. We take them for granted. Substack is great but I would never depend on it for baseline news from around the world.
Actor and Comedian, Alex Borstein won an Emmy for her work in Mrs.Maisel. Her acceptance speech was inspiring. She told the story of how her grandmother stayed alive in a concentration camp. When grandmother was forced to line up, she stepped out of the line. Ms Borstein urged everyone to “step out of the line”.
For everyone it means something different but I have thought about ways that I can step out of line forever
I will never understand people saying they're not into politics. As the women's movement used to put it, the personal is political. You can't turn your head away from what's going on in the world.
What's happening at the moment s not a joke. It's not an illusion. It's not something that will "go away on its own." America has a serious illness - and needs treatment fast.
I was feeling it today -make a plan to get out. It doesn't help that I've been watching PBS' World on Fire about the Nazi takeover of Poland, France (the rollover and play dead - reminiscent of the people you mentioned at the beginning of the post), and then the English Blitzkrieg. Keep encouraging us . I agree with Teresa B. "Thanks be to God! I desperately needed this! ❤️"
I've been looking, and frankly, there are a lot of lovely countries out there (some not too far away ;->), but they don't want any new citizens past a certain age...probably because the folks who've been there all their lives and paying into the system would suddenly get swamped by a bunch of unhealthy U.S. freeloaders (though it'd be funny as hell; Karma is an iron [one who commits a felony = a felon...]) on their various "socialist" systems. :-/
On the other hand, if we're fleeing there for political asylum (NOT "mental asylum," you Orange Dip...), they might let us in... :-/
A friend of mine, who is a civil rights fighter, told me that they haven't been able to sit down since the 40's ... so get your butt up and get back in the fight.... your not allowed to sit down until the fight is over!! So I'm back in like I've been since the 80's.... hey I'm only 60
I too am disheartened and depressed by the TrumpMAGA horror show. It was several weeks before I could read anything on SUBSTACK and I still practice caution when choosing what to read. We fought and won in the 1970s but there was no Internet then, no instantaneous transmission of information. I'm 75 years old living in a red state and exhausted by the state of our union. Keep up the good work!
I have days where I zone out, then feel guilty for wanting to back away from the fight. I know we can't give up; it's what they want. But it's blooming difficult wading through the swamp when your heart is running on empty. Sending you a hug. 🤗
I'm like you. I was consumed by the news before the election and became hopeful, Right after that day (which will go down in infamy), it was almost impossible for me to read anything political. I'm slowly getting back to caring. About the internet, I had thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Unfortunately, I'm no longer sure. Social media has got to be regulated in some way. Yes, I know about freedom of speech. But there is so much misinformation, some of which results in threats to people. It is only going to get much worse with AI becoming more mainstream. I am very afraid.
NEWSFLASH! "Catholics and Baptists Unite, Denounce Jesus Christ as a Charlatan." Not a stretch of the imagination, is it? Well, what I have to say to Trump supporters (in a very soft voice, delivered with a wee smile) is "You chose to vote for Satan. And Trump IS Satan. Remember your bible! '“My name is Legion, because there are many of us inside this man.'. Congratulations: YOU are part of the 'many'." Maybe I am so ill with dismay my eyesight has foreshortened because I can see no other way to wend my way through this MAGAt-Styx River of shit to fight back but to hit Trump supporters in the face with the reality of what they have done. If they look at me with hurt and dismay, I tell them they have not a clue as to what "hurt and dismay" feel like. "But you WILL know when you meet the God you so profess to love." And I have no idea what "forgiveness" is anymore. I know I cannot forgive these people anymore than I can forgive Satan. The day after the election I, too, unsubscribed. Then I missed all of you good people. You help me everyday and I humbly thank you.
I live in a very, very red state. I have almost no relatives or friends who voted for Harris. When things looked hopeless and depressing the most for me, I found Substack, with whole communities of people who felt very much like I do. God, you were one of the Substacks that made me feel like I belonged. I will not give up the fight!! Thank you, God!! Amen! Awomen!

Substack and Bluesky are my sources for news now. I don't trust any MSM anymore, they've all shown what POSs they are. God is my new anchorman!

Same here!

Thanks be to God! I desperately needed this! ❤️
I'm pretty sure it wasnt you who said to "turn the other cheek". I'm also pretty sure we all have some ball-kicking to do. I'm staying with you!
Bullies are cowards, and they back down when we push back. They only respect the ones who do.
I would like to think that is true but some bullies are just mean, stupid mean or mean mean. We shouldn’t kid ourselves.

Me too! I'm not giving up on God!!! :D
Mainly because I paid for a whole year... X-D

Remember, remember
The 5th of November
Gunpowder treason and plot
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot :-/
Ironically, the original Guy Fawkes was hardly rooting for rebellious underdogs...
(And sorry, Alan Moore fans, I infinitely preferred the movie "V" to the comic, as I do with just about all his stuff!)

I like your style. I agree
Right back atcha, Laura!
Hang on 'til 2026, love! :)
I agree wholeheartedly.

As my pre-socially correct father used to say "Now we separate the men from the ribbon clerks".
Ribbon clerks? /puzzled
It's an old expression. Old people will probably know it.🤓
