But there very well may not be another election. Voter suppression worked in the last one and they're now in a position to take it to an extreme in order to remain in power. If that fails, Trump will simply dissolve the Constitution and rule as a true dictator. Most of our military/police are rabid MAGA supporters. I don't see how--regardless of whatever happens next--this all doesn't end very badly for the U.S.
One is reminded of Trump's promise last year to fundamentalists: If enough of them went out and voted for him in November 2024 they would never have to vote again.
At the time many of us feared that we understood why: he would make himself President for life — an Emperor, a King, a dictator.
No more sissy "democratic" elections.
And probably instead of the House and the Senate he'd just have a Court of fawning obedient toadies, not elected but selected, by him. Not to mention succession also completely in the hands of the top dog.

I suggested to my Representative that he introduce article of impeachment against Treasury Secretary Bessent. Cabinets members can be impeached (if one can believe the info coming out of Google these days) but it’s rare. Maybe we need to make it less rare over the next four years.

As a 76 year old woman, I am doing whatever I can to help: reading up on factual pieces such as Heather Cox Richardson and others here on Substack. I give money to ACLU, Human Rights, Planned Parenthood, Vote Vets, and others. At my age I really cannot go to the state capital and protest, but am spreading the word on social media. I feel that we must all stay informed and be alert. If we see something, get out the cellphone and record it! Don’t let the marginalized people get hurt in this hostile environment without doing something to help!
