Two Thursdays ago I turned on the local t.v. news to see ice goons terrorizing and chasing Farmworkers through our local fields. I felt terrible as it was to late for us to join our fellow citizens on the front lines. A couple days later there was a concert in the park that we had planned to attend with friends and family. I wasn't really feeling it but we went. I thought it might make me forget the trouble. Maybe make us feel better. Twenty minutes in I just couldn't fake it. I told the group " I just can't pretend that everything is O.K." and we left. The next day we went to Costco and loaded up on supplies to donate to the families that are too traumatized to leave their homes to go to work. It felt good. Alas, that was a fleeting feeling...

It can be an exceedingly fine line between justifiable defense of moral and constitutional values and committing acts purely for the sake of feeding dark needs, but it's a thought process in urgent need of consideration, particularly given how quickly events are moving.
And how much evil has already been done.
I keep using the word "evil" essentially synonymously with "unconstitutional" when "evil" is a word most associated with religious belief.
But I think it can be objectively secular, too, and it's worth defining in that context, because dry language like "violations of Constitutional rights" don't adequately describe the full scope of what's happening, nor what is yet planned.
And we, those of us who abhor this regime and its adherents, need to fire up people emotionally, or we'll still be fruitlessly arguing irrelevant semantics when the last of us are being transported to concentration camps converted into death camps.
And that day is not far in the distant future. The momentum only picks up speed with each unchecked deliberate overreach committed by Trump and his puppetmasters/co-conspirators.

Background: the 12th Doctor, of /Doctor Who/, played splendiforously by Peter Capaldi, is trying to talk down a young, bereaved, angry terrorist Zygon (shapeshifting alien) before she orders anyone else killed. Some of his best lines are from this scene; heck, some of /Doctor Who's/ best lines as a show, definitely in the New Who. :)
Whenever I'm inclined to grab a weapon and start out the door in real life, determined to start Civil War (or Slave-Holders' Tantrum) 2.0, I play that and calm down a bit. ;-)
The writers did their homework:
Truth or Consequences was the li'l New Mexico town that Bonnie, the terrorist, and her parental units had been allowed to live, since the Zygons by this point in Who history are refugees, having lost their home world. They gotta be kept a secret, though, since we're too primitive as a species, still, to handle obvious aliens among us without freaking. Bonnie's control over her shape-shifting failed because she was very young, and the town humans freaked and killed her parents, which turned her into a terrorist. She called her rallying cry "Truth -- or Consequences!" forever afterwards, and is willing to kill anyone, human or Zygon, who "imprisons" her people in anything other than their true form, or willingly stays in a "false" form (two of her buddies in their true forms have the Doctor's Companion, Clara, as a prisoner nearby).
0:55: "One of those buttons will destroy the Zygons, release the imbecile's gas." "The imbecile" was an M.D. working for the government agency U.N.I.T. (the older woman in the trench coat is the current head) who, back in the old days, had gotten ahold of -- wait for it -- ZYKLON B -- and tweaked it, so it would only be dangerous to shape-shifting aliens. It'd turn them inside-out, literally, and kill them in horrible, messy fashion. They don't have access to it any more since "someone with a time machine took it all. And all the notes on how to make it."
0:58-59: The Black Archive is under the Tower of London in the Whoniverse, and it contains the room they're all standing in right now, as well as a bunch of alien tech. There are safeguards to ensure that invading aliens don't get their appendages on it. :-/
1:22: "I did this on a very important day for me. ["The Day of the Doctor," the 50th anniversary. Incredible episode! :D One of the very best. I highly recommend watching that before this; this is kind of like a sequel.] And the cease-fire WILL stand."
1:51: For those not Whovians, the TARDIS is the Doctor's spaceship/time machine.
2:00-2:30: Among the best lines in there, though they're all wonderful throughout the whole scene. A lot of these lines and later ones are based, directly and indirectly, on his own ghastly experiences being The Warrior instead of The Doctor in the Time War (which destroyed the Zygons' home world [among others] and made them refugees).
2:36-4:16: Also very good. ;) It encourages me when I need it: "Well, maybe! Maybe you WILL win! :D But nobody wins for long. [not even the bad guys] The wheel just keeps turning."
9:22-9:30: The things that look like speakers in the ceiling are actually memory-wipe devices (and he may have been exaggerating; was probably only like 1.5 times...). His sunglasses back then acted as his "sonic screwdriver": a tool that could do just about anything non-lethal, including undo screws. ;)
Oh, hell; just watch the whole thing, all 10:39 minutes of it. You'll be glad you did. :)

God, I’ve been meaning to ask you a question. Every person that ever lived came from a woman, so why have women been treated like fourth class citizens or pieces of meat for eons? Was Adam put off when you created Eve? Does the beef against women go that far back?
I think the main reason the God in the Bible I have a copy of (based on the King James' one...) was so fed up with Adam is that Adam never took any /personal responsibility/ for his own actions. He whined it was all Eve's fault, Eve whined it was all the serpent's fault, etc., etc., etc. (well, they were both very young, newly-ish created; basically kids).
But even before there was Judaism, many surviving old-timey religions from a lot of the first civilizations didn't think too highly of women, or at least the versions we have passed down to us, largely because we tend to be smaller and not as physically strong, so why should these big brutes listen to /us/? Even though, with all else being the same, like training, by and large women have better eye-hand coordination and better physical endurance... X-P
Many existing "hunter/gatherer" people have women "gathering" just about everything you DON'T need a pack of big brutes with big spears to handle: birds, fish small enough to "tickle" out of a stream, bird eggs, reptiles and amphibians, small mammals, etc., as well as plants and fungi.
Also: when things are just starting up, like the old first civilizations, sometimes all it takes is one jerk-off with a high Charisma score and a personal grudge to set the tone for everything afterwards based on that. X-(

They had no sense of morality or decency long before the kool-aid. I saw it for decades in my life before I walked away from it all. I can't imagine the massive number of people they've forced out of Christianity (including me) over the years.
The Unitarian Universalists, who are considered a Christian sect, have about 10% of their population "born into" the religion the way Catholics, Jews, Muslims, etc. are; the other 90% seem to come from other religions, including other Christian religions, when they feel their congregation and/or leadership (maybe especially the leadership) is getting a little too "wacky," "obnoxious," "overbearing," "[your favorite term here]." The UUs are pretty groovy. :)

Two Thursdays ago I turned on the local t.v. news to see ice goons terrorizing and chasing Farmworkers through our local fields. I felt terrible as it was to late for us to join our fellow citizens on the front lines. A couple days later there was a concert in the park that we had planned to attend with friends and family. I wasn't really feeling it but we went. I thought it might make me forget the trouble. Maybe make us feel better. Twenty minutes in I just couldn't fake it. I told the group " I just can't pretend that everything is O.K." and we left. The next day we went to Costco and loaded up on supplies to donate to the families that are too traumatized to leave their homes to go to work. It felt good. Alas, that was a fleeting feeling...
