I'm outlining my plan for Purposeful Disengagement this week. It will be a form of rebellion.

Matthew Humphrey's avatar

If this is a form of massive civil disobedience, non-violent non-compliance, then we were thinking along the same lines. Not just a one-off therapeutic march to get it out of our system before we settle down to be oppressed and punished for our belief in democracy, either. I will look forward to what you have to say about Purposeful Disengagement. Thank you!

I like it. Resistance is good in the sense that you resist simply going with that 50 some odd percent who thought somehow he’ll be better this time around. You resist the ideas. But rebellion is a “hell, no” attitude. It should bring up the memories of fighters who physically opposed, not those who sat by hoping that things get better.

Aslo White's avatar

I’m in. I’m sick of watching the Dems bring a knife to a gun fight.

Jan Frederick's avatar

I am sure Chump supporters would never go for a passive term like resistance. I think rebellion is the only way forward. I have had to "resist" saying what I really wanted to say to Magat relatives.

Tracey Angle's avatar

There's activists and advocates. How do you feel about either of those?

Jan Frederick's avatar

I think activists is a more forceful term and I would go with that.

I have been referring to it as a revolution, but rebellion works just as well.

I hear you, but I'll keep wearing my "Resistance" watch cap, thank you very much. I live in the south (NC) where a hat with the word "Resist" on the brim is a fair proxy for rebellion in these here parts.

Nancy's avatar

Hmm; considering they're in the South, where there was a slaveholder rebellion, one would think they'd like the term better...and let's not forget those States' Rights things they kept bleating about! Democrat state governors have sworn not to forget. ;-)

Ranger Adams's avatar

The title, Ranger, means: A knight of the old forest that will serve no earthly king. Or SERVANT OF GOD! This old servant will NEVER serve Trump nor anyone that smells like a Trumper! Count this old Knight in with the rebellion!

Ranger Adams's avatar

My mother also liked it. That is why my given name is Ranger. It was a hard name to endure as a kid and just as difficult to live up to as an adult.

When the defecation starts to hit the ventilation and I am pulled in a moan-and-groan conversation about the desperate state of our nation, I will have one question. "For whom did you vote?" (Uppity English works here.) If I get "Trump", my response will be " So, you voted for Satan and you expected good things would happen?" See, this is my form of rebellion. I am going to call it as it is. I am not going to lecture, castigate, or spit. The first two actions raise my BP and it's already too high. But the last one I'd reserve for Trump. I would! I'd love to hock back a loogie and let it fly in his face! I know...I can be so unrefined. Anyway, I have decided to live as large as I am able and know that I did my best. What I REFUSE to do is to associate with the enemy. And anyone who voted for Trump is my enemy because Trump is Satan. But please, people, eat well, read good books, go for long hikes, enjoy really fine wine and stream Animaniacs cartoons. Don't allow Satan to get his hands on your good mental health. It will be hard, I know. But our best revenge is revelling in a clear conscience...and, of course, telling Trump supporters that they voted for Satan. They can mull that over while sitting in church on Sundays. HALLELUJAH!

Sorry, God. Never saw any of the Star Wars movies. And personally I’m disturbed by the thought of a rebellion because that implies force and lethal weapons. Sort of like a January 6 affair. We can each be a rebel in our own lives—such as not following prescribed paths for females for instance—but the larger good will not be served by losing bloody battles. The Second World War gave us the blueprint for a Resistance. We just need to begin it now.

Would U. Turnin-Annefrank's avatar

We are on the same side. I would ask the question: how far may we need to go to fight off a Christonational Fascist? When they begin to implement Project 2025, and we have not seen “The 180-Day Playbook”, there may be precious little time to react. They PJ2025) have been putting people through their training regime, so they are ready to go.

Katharine Hill's avatar

Exactly, Lisa. They laid out very clearly how they intend to proceed. So getting ahead of them is necessary. Governors of various states are making it clear they will resist implementing federal changes that are attempted. There are lots of incredibly intelligent and dedicated public servants who can stymie things I think.

Nancy's avatar

Ooh, but just about every one of those Resistances in various countries under Hitler's heel DID use force, lethal weapons, etc. when they felt the need. Yes, there were a lot of subtle ways to get one's hands on secret docs, babbled information, etc., but a lot of things, enemies, etc. got broken.

It might not be as obvious as taking out tanks, bridges, artillery emplacements, and other obvious, physical threats, but we need to do something as radical in our various opposition parties...while we still have them.

FDR and his New Deal proved he had Cojones of Monstrous Size, made of neutronium. We need Dems like that again. X-P

On the other hand, the last thing I want to do is give the Mango Mussolini any excuse to not leave, like by participating in actual armed insurrection. Then he just turns on his presidential super power of "I can do anything in the name of national security! :D" and never leaves. X-P

Amen. It's time to rebel against Wall Street and it's billionaire class. The economy, which is at a high point now (contrary to maga lies), will start cascading downward after tRump enacted his asinine policies. So tell anyone who's contemplating a major purchase (house, car, etc) to hold up because we may be in a great depression situation before long.

Tracey Angle's avatar

Trump will ride for a while on Biden's successful economy and claim the credit for it. His minions will believe him...then we'll head into a recession before we'd hit a depression. IMO

Wayne Bassett's avatar

I agree. The people who resisted Nazism in 1930s Germany ended up in concentration camps. It was the allied rebellion that brought balance to the western world. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't part of the original Star Wars based on the WW2 struggles?

Jimmy Gawne's avatar

Hold on now. The Last Jedi was a damn fine film.

Otherwise, agreed.

Glenn Reynolds's avatar

How about "Uprising Against the Planet of the Apes" does that work? Jan 6 qualifies as dubious evolution. After all, they will all be released and pardoned.

Jan Frederick's avatar

In this case, I believe the Magats would qualify for the term "de-evolution". That is the only logical term for going backwards.

Glenn Reynolds's avatar

Good point. Prob unfair to apes also.

Carol Ann Meme's avatar

Well crap! I just put my Persist and Resist sticker on my car. Can someone find me a rebellion sticker please.

Cathy is a pottymouth's avatar

I hear you but, last year I had the bug guard ripped off my car and broken into pieces in a Walmart parking lot. I had a Biden sticker in my back window. The parking lot was full of trumpers. It usually is. They somehow feel like they are entitled to do these things. A$$holes!

Nancy's avatar

And it doesn't make "one bit of difference" (--Tevye, /Fiddler on the Roof/) that they won; all that did was embolden bullies to the next level of assholishness. X-P

I wonder how popular self-defense classes for women will be getting, and if the prices for them will rise accordingly...

Carol Ann Meme's avatar

I'm sorry you had to go through that, Cathy.

Cathy is a pottymouth's avatar

It's ok. I just wanted to warn you. They also like to key vehicles.

Jo Ann Feeler's avatar

I think a pre-Christmas shopping STRIKE against Jeff Bezos and Amazon would be a fitting start. Let him eat Washington Post newspapers.

Andy Clark's avatar

A new hope indeed. If the force isn't with us, we're not gonna have much wind in our sails, and from time to time may well be pissing into the wind.

I guess we're going for the Billy Idol version of the rebel yell ?
