If Citizens United considers a corporation a person, then corporations should all be held accountable for any crime as if they were persons. Every case of a death caused by a healthcare company's bad decision should be looked into and prosecuted. Doctors have to buy malpractice insurance and insurance companies should be accountable for its practices or decisions. That is the only way the system would be fair. Thank you, God. Amen! Awomen!
I think we should get rid of healthcare insurance entirely. Tax the rich, and we would have universal healthcare. If we did both, we wouldn't have to raise taxes.
There are a few doctors out there, here and there, that charge a fairly reasonable flat fee for pretty much whatever people come into their offices for, here in the U.S. Mainly because they DO NOT WANT TO DEAL with all the damn-stupid paperwork and other nonsense the health insurance companies require. I worked for a huge pharmaceutical company in their specialty medicine department for a few years. Specialty meds are the ones you see constantly advertised on TV. My job was to fill orders and ensure they were shipped to a patient's home. Some companies have a plan where patients can sign up to pay a small co-pay for each med refill. However, drug companies love to set up obstacles so that many people can't sign up for these discounts. There was nothing I hated more than to tell a patient that the co-pay was going to be $1,500 for a medicine they needed to keep themselves alive. About 90% of this was the result of denial by insurance companies who refused to cover the meds. Doctors and their staff members spent a ridiculous amount of time filling out paperwork to get medications for their patients. I can't guess the number of people who cried while we were on the phone because they were afraid their prescriptions would be filled. This is how United along with other drug and pharmacy chains make billions in profits every year and then lay off personnel because business is down. It should not be this way. Yes, okay, I admit that I felt some satisfaction when this guy was gunned down. Murder is wrong, but in this case I smiled a little.
