This is tooo funny. Fox just helped the new Superman film make a TON of money! I didn’t plan on seeing it but after the maga meltdown, I will DEFINITELY see it this weekend. Let’s all pay to see Superman and wait for the box office returns that will make maga heads explode. 🤯

geraldine Schiavone's avatar

Me too will go to the movies to see it☮️💟

Allison's avatar

Keep us posted. We want to know what you think of Superman after the movie.

Nancy's avatar

Neither my husband nor I appreciate "the theater experience" any more, but we'll definitely contribute to its overall profits when it comes out on disc! :D

DL Jr's avatar

If it upsets MAGATs it’s good in my book!

John Pullen's avatar

Superman is undocumented (illegal), too!

Robot Bender's avatar

I'd love to see ICE try to disappear him. 😆

Dtss's avatar

Superman would allow ICE to arrest him, then, when he is detained in the goulag, document everything, because Clark Kent is a reporter, then he would help get everyone out in a jail break, Lois Lane would be waiting outside with national and international media, friendly politicians, etc, expose the humanitarian crisis created by villains more villainous than Lex Luthor or Apocalypse, make a speech, more people would make speeches, then, the last thing he would do before up, up and awaying, clear the area and zap the detention facility to smithereens with his laser eyeballs.

Or does only Cyclops have laser eyeballs?

Oh! Batman would try to arrest him for being a drama queen. Because Batman just destroyed the concentration camp in Florida, no press, no fanfare, and hung desantis on a flag pole. Upside down. 😇😇😇🤣🤣🤣

Robot Bender's avatar

So when does your graphic novel of this come out? 😆

Dtss's avatar

That would be so freaking awesome!!! Had I the talent! Maybe James Gunn will lay eyeballs on my little scenario and produce an hour long animated twofer. First half is the Superman Show. Second half, Batman. I think Robin should be in there, but not everyone is enamoured of the Boy Wonder. Definitely need Penguin, Joker and Harley Quinn. Maybe throw in Catwoman for Batman logistics and backup, Alfred’s getting kinda up there. 🤩🤩🤩🤣🤣🤣

Robot Bender's avatar

I'd kick in a few bucks into a gofundme for that!

Dtss's avatar

I would match your donation! Actually, that’s all I’ve got. A few bucks. But I am with you, I would love to watch a head to head of the Bat: smug, snarky, sarcastic, smartass; and, Superman, who needs more smartass lessons. Taking on an unjust and unlawful administration that, for once, is the US government and not a foreign government. Even if it’s a made up country’s government in the graphic novels or comics, which I voraciously inhaled when I was a kid, the US was always the good guy. Might have been a couple bad apples, or a few rogue actors, but always good. Thanks Cold War!

Not this time, though. Not this time.

Would be a little bit of a coup if my idea for an animated head to head was the entertainment while waiting for the new Superman movie to start!

ps: Batman is smug because he’s just a normal guy with a suit and killer wheels. Plus he’s richer than Croesus. Tony Stark had to have been cloned off Batman. Too much similarity.

Would this be a regular ICE Facility or some kind of SuperICE facility for metahumans? And would Homelander be the sheriff?

Nancy's avatar

Different universe, thank goodness. :-/

But looking just at the Marvel comics universe, the actual fuss over the Segovia Accords/Treaty (vs. the fuss over it in the Marvel cinematic universe) was along the lines of that: governments, perhaps especially the U.S., were trying to force metas to "register" (spooky...) and if they didn't behave "properly," only when called for, etc., could be subject to imprisonment (and possibly worse after that precedent).

THAT'S why Captain America rebelled against signing it in the first place, and resisted it stridently after it passed anyway (iirc). :-/

Devon Williams's avatar

They hate mutants there, they'd absolutely loathe alien immigrants.

Nancy's avatar

I think that was part of Cap's squeamishness about the whole thing, yeah. :-/

And you could get hair-splitty about the various "pantheons," like the Norse (with Thor and Loki), the Greek (Hercules was a Marvel "super-hero" at one point), and others who were speculated to either be extra-dimensionals who adopted the appearance of the Earth cultures already present in the time and place they hopped into, or that they were "ancient astronauts" (like with the Aesir of Asgard in the movie universe) that had influenced Earth cultures that they landed among.

Either way, yeah, you're right; they'd be freaked out against as well. :-/

Nancy's avatar

You could call Supes' heat-vision a type of "laser eyeballs," especially as they're often depicted in art. But it's not like DC and Marvel never had heroes with at least similar powers before... ;)

Denise Palesch's avatar

🤣🤣🤣 That WOULD be fun to watch.

What we need a ton of right now: Kindness. What we don't need at all right now: Kellyanne. She could be the villain in the next Superman movie. Cruelyanne would be an appropriate name I think. Thank you, God! Amen! Awomen! Ramen!

Dtss's avatar

Kellyanne out cruels Cruella DeVille herself. And that’s about all I really need to know about Kellyanne, besides trafficking in “alternative facts”. Whatever the hell that means. Unless garden gnome the puppy and goat murderer has the Cruella DeVille moniker wrapped up, I say Kellyanne can have it.

Nancy's avatar

Back during Trump 1.0, Randy Rainbow worked more with the last name bit: "Cruella DeVos" when that twat was in charge of the Department of Education. X-P

You know who else is an immigrant? Everyone on Fox News who isn’t a Native American, which is everyone. Imagine being against kindness and dogs. MAGA is exhausting.

Nancy's avatar

Even "Native American" is slightly incorrect; First Nations works best, since they were the first humans in the Americas around about 20,000 years ago (and if they'd really wanted to get pissy about immigration, they could've yelled, "First! :D" Not that they would've been listened to or respected for that...). That earliest date may have just been exploration; apparently, they really had to bail from ol' Berengia once climate change kicked in and drowned their homeland ("Make a choice, folks! Head on west, back to Asia, or east to the new lands! The boats are waiting!"). :-/

Dtss's avatar

I think they had boats, too. Historians and archaeologists tie themselves into knots debating whether early migrations were facilitated by boats, or the elusive, and not any real evidence of an open corridor through the mile high glaciers, was the route. Insisting migrants didn’t use or have boats, after a millennia living next to water, fresh or ocean, is a huge disservice to humanity, in general. Why do they think the people who peopled the continents were not as ingenious as we are, and always have been? It’s the same as people who deny the Egyptians didn’t build the pyramids. Just because people today can’t figure everything out regarding the pyramids, doesn’t take away from the fact that they were built by people who, except for the time they lived in, were exactly like us. They are us.

Nancy's avatar

Well, yeah... ;)

I highly recommend the book, /Ancient Inventions/, even though the most recent info they had was like in the 1990s. Even back then, even considering all the discoveries since then, they could pretty much conclusively prove, through lots of evidence review, scholarly journal quoting, etc., that yep, our ancestors could actually do stuff without relying on "ancient astronauts" or some such. ;)

Each chapter is a different field of human endeavor, and really awesome. :)

They had a series for awhile (not sure if it's still on), at least one of the writers, on the Discovery channel where it was called /Ancient Discoveries/, but I knew it was from the same people; the few times I could catch an episode, I'd recognize it as being about word for word from the book. :)

EDIT: My bad; it was actually on the HISTORY Channel, of all places; their other, way more ridiculous shows and hosts kind of tainted my opinion and memory. :-/ And the writers didn't host it; for the most part, it was just hosted by smart Brits, so I got all confused. X-P

Dtss's avatar

I’m looking for that. Thank you so very much for the heads up!!🤩🤩🤩

Nancy's avatar

Yeah! Like I say, it's an old book, but it should still be available somewhere; lessee...

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-e&q=Ancient+Inventions+book

(NOT the "Hello Kitty" version; it's a big, mostly-white cover paperback...)

It could be on Amazon, but there are other sellers, including Half Price Books. :)

Immigrant superheroes:

Superman, Wonder Woman, Thor, Black Panther, Aquaman, Valkyrie, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, Storm… and that's all I can come up with without more coffee. MAGA nerds will lose their collective 💩 if they actually think (*SNORT*) about it.

Dtss's avatar

Wolverine is badass and CANADIAN 🇨🇦!!! I guess he didn’t get the memo about being nice. 🤣🤣🤣

Nancy's avatar

Quite a few superheroes in Alpha Flight. :)

Ann Panda's avatar

I love that Superman cartoon about what is "All American." That would be a great protest sign!

deniway's avatar

God you ARE a righteous Dude! Best quote in your story:

"They hate Superman because he gives people hope. They hate him because he believes in something better. They hate him because he has a dog.

You know who else hates dogs?

Trump. Kristi Noem."

Thanks again for getting us the Truth!!! Enjoy the show!

Meg McDonald's avatar

I wasn’t going to go but now I definitely am

Mike Longo's avatar

What the actual *F* is wrong with these people?? I mean did any of them stop to think that they/their ancestors MOVED here from somewhere else (aka ‘immigrants’)? Honestly,

these folks have to reach new heights just to achieve the level of ‘dummy’…

Nancy's avatar

Every human whose ancestors left AFRICA is an immigrant somewhere, or descendants of immigrants. X-P

What, is it "Thanks for giving my wretched, poor grandad a chance, Statue of Liberty; now we don't need anyone else coming in." --Trump

(Well, unless they can pay for the privilege. No more poor need apply. :-/)

PhunnyPhillyGirl's avatar

Dear God,

Didn't you teach us to treat all immigrants as ourselves? That includes Krypton, right??

I mean, Superman is about as "Immigrant" as you can get.

Thank you for all you are doing. 🙏

Love,

me

Nancy's avatar

From that book they all looooove to quote from (cherry-picking all the way): "Leviticus 19:33-34 states, 'When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born, and you shall love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.'"

Teri Fisher's avatar

Love how they put up a photo of tacotits as superman this morning. Such an insult to humanity as usual.

Elly's avatar

Tacotits! That's brilliant!

Patty's avatar

Let them say what they want…we LOVE Superman because he is an immigrant and he shows everybody what’s possible if you live your life with love, compassion and respect for human life! I hope you have a wonderful time at the movies ❤️

Nancy's avatar

People ARE starving for sincerity and joy!

Wasroger's avatar

Not to mention honesty.

Liane Townsend's avatar

Wajahat was talking about this too the other day. He has tickets for his family to see Superman tonight. I am so pissed at people for making everybody so ugly rather than realising we are all the same, human... Love & Peace

SLMontgo's avatar

SUPERMAN always stood/stands for Truth, Justice, and the American way. No mention of MAGA.

Dtss's avatar

Makes you wonder how he would have turned out if he landed in USSR. 🤨😉

SLMontgo's avatar

Hmmm. Well, given his DNA, I doubt the USSR would have lasted much longer 💀

Nancy's avatar

There's an "alternative timeline" comic along those lines: "Superman: Red Son." It's from the Elseworlds line, which is about the only line I've bothered with, comics-wise, for quite awhile now. X-P

Ironically, the ship containing Baby Supes lands in another "bread basket" area: the Ukraine...

(And we wonder why they want to break away from Russia SO BADLY...)

It's an okay story, though the ending messes everything up, imho. X-P

Dtss's avatar

Some of the alternative universes don’t hit it for me, either. One example, aside from Superman landing in Ukraine on Red Son, are the ninja Batman time travel. Not too keen on those, either.

Batman is badass because he has no superpowers. Just money, a wicked car and a Tony Stark suit. Time travel to feudal Japan to bring Joker, Harley Quinn, Penguin, Gorilla Grod, et al, to heel is a fantasy, inside a fantasy. Then when they come back from the past, Yakuza hurricanes? Really? They could have stayed in Gotham and had plenty to take care of if the Yakuza clans had done an epic misdeed, without any need for time travel.

Nancy's avatar

Some "time travel" stories worked for me (some didn't); and they weren't so much "time travel" as I saw 'em, but more like "What if Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent or any of the others had been born and raised in this time and in this place?" My favorite of all of 'em, I think, was about the privateer Captain Leatherwing of the /Flying Fox/ during the reign of James I, operating out of the Caribbean... :D

There was a Capitana Felina, who was once a lady of Spain, but loved adventure far more; Leatherwing's older first mate and only one on the ship that knew his secret identity and why (had to keep his identity a secret while he worked up enough loot to clear his family's wrongly dishonored name), Alfredo; Robin, an orphan leader of a gang of orphan kids on the streets of Kingston in Jamaica, and a huge fan of Leatherwing, even wearing a mask kind of like his; the Laughing Man, who dressed like a 1600s refined gentleman, but in purple and orange, with green hair and a face covered in white lead make-up...

EDIT: Okay, so I misremembered the Laughing Man's colors, but you get the idea... ;-)

Oh, that was an awesome Elseworlds. Worked so well, at least for me. :)

Dtss's avatar

I have not heard, nor seen, that one. I will look for that! Thanks for the heads up!!🤩🤩🤩

Nancy's avatar

It's pretty old, and I wish I could remember the name of it! :-/

I'll try hunting; brb...

Heh! D'oh; it was called /Batman: Leatherwing/... ;-D

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_Leatherwing

(looking for ways to obtain it or read it online; not a lot of luck so far :-/)

Ah! Here we go (for reading it online; the first pages kind of double-up weirdly, but it straightens out before too long):

https://archive.org/details/DetectiveComicsAnnual07Elseworlds1994/mode/2up

Drat! They messed up one of the best pages, where Robin convinces Capitana Felina that, based on their mutual Catholicism, he's telling her the truth about Leatherwing's prior "marriage" to a native that was no such an arrangement on his part...foo. It goes from page 48 to 50. :(

There's a Kindle version on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Detective-Comics-1937-2011-Annual-7-ebook/dp/B07PXN19K4/ref=sr_1_1?crid=FBQ1I6ZGV05M&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3PBZOMDUC7NY_VHN__PFEcg1dGJnq9Sqa1-TEMP12c0.R_xyvA9IN5xK7HxZZ1wNRy-mYkgXa8dvn7uwbrAsl_w&dib_tag=se&keywords=Detective+Comics+Annual+%237+1994&qid=1752940254&s=books&sprefix=detective+comics+annual+7+1994%2Cstripbooks%2C154&sr=1-1

Another good one was "The Blue, the Grey, and the Bat" set in the Civil War and included in Volume 1 here:

SLMontgo's avatar

Interesting to know they decided to go that direction. Confession: the Superman comics were my brother's. I preferred Archie and Mad Magazine (my brother was mad for Mad, too).

Nancy's avatar

Loved Mad! :D Too bad it went downhill; shortly after it got "acquired" by DC, I think, and started doing ads. :-/
