Thanks to the Cardinals who elected the first American Pope to fight the fascism and white supremacy idiots lead by the Orange Anti-Christ and JD (Just Dumb) Vance!!!

Yeah; isn't Marxism pretty much a really, really dead old horse? Why do they keep beating it? :-/

The only "Marxist" country that really counts any more is China, as far as power and population go. North Korea, Vietnam, and Cuba still are, I think, but they're kind of not in the news much (except NK) and Vietnam really likes us these days (or did) as trading partners.

So, who are the "real 'Muricans" fighting against now? :-/

He totally is! The name Leo XIV shows a Pope with social concern for the dispossessed. Leo XIII is the father of Catholic Social Teaching, who wrote in the 1800’s about labor and fairness for working people.

You can tell how Catholic I am by my last name, but this guy thinks Vance and the MAGAt fucks are douche bags and one of our cats is named Leo, so this guy is just fine with me!!!

I don’t know much about Catholicism, but if Pope Leo XIV loves ALL people, he’s ok by me! 👍🏻

I think the Vatican just declared war on MAGA. Pretty clear that they are not giving up on us. Also very clear that they are sending the message to straighten up and fly right.

I told my daughter (adult) that the entire conclave gave each and every middle finger to this administration.

Peter, I thought about this the minute I heard they had acted so quickly and selected the first American Pope. Fascism was rising around the world but as it began to devour the last best hope for Democracy and freedom I wonder if the Cardinals felt the need to send a powerful message of resistance? I am not Catholic, but I'll take help anywhere I can find it and I'm rooting for Leo to speak forcefully and get American Catholics to wake up and rise up. Incredibly, I know several who support this bigoted, benighted administration.

Thank you, god - as a non American, waking up to the news that the new Pope is from the USA gave me the chills. I mean, how far can the ugly claws of Frump and Muskrat reach? But then I read this. Phew!

We could just pretty much lose anybody who doesn't think, at least in some measure, to how this Pope thinks. Bottom line people who do not think it's better to be nice will never have a chance to meet the maker they claim to idolize and follow the teachings of. When my time comes, and I'm floating down some tunnel or something, and the face of the only cartoon God I'll ever love will be smiling and waving me in.

I'm liking this guy already, now let's see MORE. We need him to keep dropping holy fireballs of truth on these fascist fucks.

As a lifelong Chicagoan who was raised Catholic, learning about Pope Leo’s tweets makes me unbelievably happy!!!

The first thing I thought when I saw him was that he looks like one of those grandpas that gives you $5 when you come to visit.

What struck me is that he looked so happy😊

Pope Bob doth smite fake Catholic JD Vance, who mysteriously Catholicized himself 2 years ago, just in time to “groom” himself to be elected Vice President—“no sir, I knew JFK, and you’re definitely no JFK”! Pope Bob good! Trump-Vance no good!

In a tunnel of darkness, finally, a ray of hope! Thank you, God, and bless Pope Leo XIV! 🥰

From what I have read, he is not as welcoming to LGBTQ folks as Francis. But we shall see.

Karyn Milos's avatar

I don't expect any pope to be 100 percent, but at least his fundamental perspective is towards compassion and social justice. That gives him room to grow, or at least less room overall for error.
