I hope that as they “melt down” they take ICE with them! After finished melting, they SHOULD be allowed to evaporate!

XHM's avatar

It would be mandatory - surely.

Lynn Cross's avatar

Looks like I might have to stop my permanent boycott of Walmart!

Heidi's avatar

Nah…they still deserve it for stopping DEI

Kathleen Kj Lowry's avatar

I was thinking the same thing … just to not give their boycott any backing … however, I realize that she doesn’t control any part of Walmart, herself.

No. Too soon. One heiress does not mean the whole clan or business.. oh how joyous to be a Rich Rich Rich widow..

BJ Zamora's avatar

They can’t boycott! The Dollar Stores don’t have all the items that Walmart has and they’re not open 24 hours.

Nancy's avatar

ROFLMAO! Oh, you too, eh? :D

I've been boycotting them for years now (I can afford to do so, literally, being in the most sane [imho ;-D], most populous state with lots of other options :-/), and I don't see any reason to stop doing so.

Nice to know at least one of them beyond Sam has a conscience, though; of course, it wasn't in Sam's kids' generation bloodline... ;-)

Lynn Cross's avatar

Well, I’m still thinking about it.

She's not associated with them. From the sound of it, she's more than happy for people to boycott Walmart since she's used her last name to call them our on it before even though she's not actually associated

John S. Way's avatar

Tempting for sure. Might start slow, but hopefully they get back to some kind of decency, if only because it would be a damngood way to capitalize where Target et al are failing.

Susan Snyder's avatar

I totally agree with how you’re feeling but just remember that the people who are actually in control over at Walmart immediately separated themselves from her, making it clear that she has absolutely nothing to do with Walmart or its policy-making. She just had the good luck to marry the son of the owner, who then died. Nothing will change at Walmart, even if they ARE mad at the tariffs.

My suggestion is that we continue to boycott Walmart AND publcly support Christie Walton. If she can be convinced to continue buying ads like this one, she could be very helpful to “the rebellion”. The dumb Walmart shoppers think they’re seeing ads from Walmart itself and are promising to boycott. By supporting Christie, we can get the Walmartians to do our work themselves

Love that Huckabee Sanders felt the need to chime in. How’s it going with FEMA dollars not heading your way, no matter how hard you’ve been begging?

Plus less money for her to travel off her state’s dime, as she scopes out furniture to put in her office.

This is so perfect!!!

If they're going to boycott Walmart, how soon can we expect to see MAGAs starving in the streets?

Cecilia Rodriguez Griffin's avatar

At this point, maga is in full meltdown over *any* independent news source (like yours, Dear God) and they want them gone. We need to support as many independent news sources as we can. We won’t back down!

Thank you for posting. I’m retired. SS doesn’t go far. I appreciate your posts.

Yes! I am strained money wise, also. I wish I could contribute 💰and support SO MANY great democratic causes, but must just support with likes, shares, and word of mouth to friends.

On your side always God! I think she did a wonderful thing and if the "MAGA'S" spin out so be it! I guess they will never "get it."

JAmmann_Meidas's avatar

I hope they all have the day they voted for!

I don’t shop at Walmart, but this isn’t why. The way they treat their employees, as well as the low quality of their products, along with the owners’ anti-education policies and funding, caused me to stop shopping there at least a decade ago.

Nancy's avatar

Amen, awomen, ramen! Me too. :)

Truth, and those who speak it, will always frighten dictators and their goons. I will be out on Saturday, June 14th in solidarity with all Americans who value our freedoms.

Nancy's avatar

Me too! :D

And, judging by all the dots/points of interest/events/etc. on various U.S. maps, so will just about everyone on both coasts...and a heartening amount of folks in the middle! :)

HI2thDoc's avatar

Good luck, small town USA MAGAs. Boycott WalMart and drive hours to go to where? Target?

LJ57's avatar

They would need to get truck loading lessons from the Beverly Hillbillies to get half the town to the nearest alternative to Walmart and then where would they put all their processed food?

MAGA is boycotting Walmart?? That will make shopping at Walmart so much better. Lower prices than my local groceries AND no slack-jawed idiots clogging up the aisles?? Deal!!

Lady Emsworth's avatar

They don't want a king like the European kings, who are just "Heads of State".

They want a king like Henry the Eighth, four hundred years ago, with the power to lop off heads, put people on the rack and burn them alive. And if that didn't work, hang draw and quarter them - which was basically, hang till your half dead, revive you so that you're awake to see your genitals cut off and your intestines pulled out - then cut your body into four pieces.

I'm sure this is something trump wishes he could do to Newsome and anyone else who is "troublesome."

LJ57's avatar

The orange menace and Henry VIII could both be described as capricious and unstable. There are no orange menace offspring who could ever be as successful a head of state as QE I.

Nancy's avatar

Eee! =8-0

(Though, to be fair, Hal wasn't the only one; at least his daughter, Liz, was a bit more humane, but she still saw heads roll, literally [and bragged about being her father's daughter], and the ones after her...brrr...)

And not to be too picky, but it's "Newsom." :)

Our boy! :D

Lady Emsworth's avatar

Newsom.

Newsom, Newsom, Newsom - maybe that will stick, now!

Thanks.

Gruesome😨 I think I'm going to have nightmares🤓 I personally think that that is the appropiate punishment for agent orange, his adminstration, and his billionaire bros. I would like be there if ever that were done to them.

Lady Emsworth's avatar

Doreen - when you feel like that - stop and pray. Or, if aren't religious, think of something good in your life.

Henry the Eighth was a monster at the end of his life, feared by everyone - and so is trump. The greatest success he could have is to turn you into one too.

I understand and empathise with what you say, and how you feel - but I REFUSE to let trump's corruption enter into my soul.

Eileen M. Forbes's avatar

Our “taxes” r just going to go to the billionaire class. When he said “55% is coming to us”, that’s what he meant, I’m pretty sure.

Noelani's avatar

Like, I want a MAGA to tell me what specifically they find objectionable in the bullet points in Walton's message. These should be values that every American can get behind. The lunatics are truly running the asylum.

Also, many of us in rural America have no choice than to support corporate chains for some necessities. Since my budget allows me to choose between Amazon and WalMart, I often choose WalMart. Yes, there are other mail-order options, or stores in town 45 min to 1 hour away, but they are just not affordable for the stuff of daily life. We buy independent when we can, but we do not have the salaries to cut ties with the big cheapies.

Last rant- I feel like a lot of the disparaging WalMart comments are rooted in urban prejudice against rural people...Just sayin' There are plenty of progressives in rural America, despite the Dems writing us off decades ago.

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

Noelani, I, too, have financial limitations. I have shopped at Target for years. Not only do they have lower prices, but they give back to the community. I really can't afford to do my shopping anywhere else. I aired my disappointment to managers there. They said that they do incorporate DEI hiring, but it is now under a different name. Whether that's true...?

Noelani's avatar

That's great. The town with the Target nearby would be the farthest away from the directions I go for home and work. I was just trying to say that many rural Americans don't have much choice in where they shop. I order toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, and kitchen trash bags from independent sustainable company, that's the big "shop your morals" splurge in my household.

Nancy's avatar

1) The loudest folks, sadly, in the rural areas are these idiotic MAGA turds (who were probably once The Tea Party...). They give the rest of the fine folks, like Tennessee Brando, the Belle of the Ranch gal, Farron Cousins, yourself, etc. a terrible name. :(

2) When Wal-Mart first started forcing their way into rural areas, displacing and driving out the mom-and-pop places that had been there for generations, that should've set off alarm bells right then and there... X-(

Originally, if memory serves, wasn't it Sam's Club (literally a members' only thing, like CostCo), started by Sam Walton? Iirc, he actually had a heart and soul, unlike his descendants... :-/
