And frankly, I'd make that a requirement for registering to vote, too. As long as you're 18, not a current felon (does that mean Trump can't vote in elections?), and enough of a citizen that you have voting rights here, you can register to vote...after you take and pass that test. That way, both you and the politicos know HOW THE HELL GOVERNMENT WORKS.
And debate club was a great way to understand law and democracy. For the last 40 years or so, public discourse has been mostly Ad Hominem arguments or attacks. I am tired of it.
Yeah, when I was in high school, they'd bumped it up to that level. I couldn't graduate without having taken and passed that class (with at least a D; I think I got an A or a B, since the teacher was really cool and an effective teacher :D).
I agree with the civics test to get to vote. You have to take a test to get your drivers license, it should be the same to vote (and own a gun, but that's another can of worms).

The US has spent decades not supporting public education with the result being large swaths of citizens with little to no critical thinking skills. If they can even read the comprehension level is elementary school, matching trump’s second grade understanding of government and economics. So, he is going to threaten the auto makers with -- what? What can he come after them with? Then there is the fact that their stock prices will go down if they have to eat the tariffs and they will be selling less cars (again, stock prices will go down) if they don't.
