I understand being afraid. I really do. But there is a way out. Retire. Let those who are not afraid take over.

Wasroger's avatar

But the ones who are not afraid are cultists and sycophants. Soon Congress will be nothing but enablers of the orange god king’s political whims. Already an honest effort to combat waste, fraud and abuse would nearly clear the halls of Congress. They have become just a rubber stamp for a malign dictator..

Carol Anne, you got that right! We have every reason to believe that Democrats will take over the House in the midterm election of 2026. This MAGA Murder bill will haunt every single Republican up for re-election. Chris Bowers wrote a great piece on why Dems will take over the House. See https://wolvesandsheep.substack.com/p/heres-why-democrats-are-basically?utm_source=substack&publication_id=1017039&post_id=167040532&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&utm_campaign=email-share&triggerShare=true&isFreemail=true&r=e4yq3&triedRedirect=true

Let’s pray to God there is an election in 2026 or not one where democratic voters have been thrown off the rolls!

Mary Jo's avatar

But, we can't wait... We have to do it NOW!

Mary Jo's avatar

What's our way out!?

Trump will literally leave a trail of bodies dead and maimed and many in bankruptcy. Esp old folks who are sick and children who deserved a chance. She is an accessory who just wiped clean her rep of having a backbone and some decency. She did her version of triage except saved the 1 patient of Alaska and left 49 to bleed out and rot. She can rationalize with the best of them. She is the healthy guy jumping on the Titanic life raft. Shame!

Patty Smith's avatar

You say it perfectly, Glenn. Unbelievable. She could have saved us. She could've stopped this horrible bill. She is terrified of DT and his goon squad. Nice work, Lisa.

True. Sold us all out cheap. Even worse!!

Nancy's avatar

And apparently, the rest of the bill will make those crumbs useless. X-P

Idiot. X-P

What are all these Republican crybabies are afraid of, exactly? LOSING POWER?! Or actually being taken out by armed lunatics (when they could've voted for sensible gun control and not have to worry quite so much)? Simple, that last; realize you're in a dangerous country now and put peepholes in your doors, keep them locked if someone won't show I.D., know the steps to take to keep you and your family safe (the ACLU and others have good advice), or get more security if you're in a position to do that (sorry, folks; this isn't Mayberry RFD any longer, if it ever was).

One of the best ways to deal with a bully that you're afraid of is to stand up to him IN NUMBERS. The more, the better; he can't kill all of us.

skangirl's avatar

Seriously, don't any of these people consider simply resigning? I know a journalist who just walked out of a press briefing at the Shite House during trump 1.0. Respect.

Lisa Murkowski

>AND<

49 OTHER REPUBLICANS

got this bill passed.

She's not the only one throwing Americans to the wolves. Let's blame all of them.

Neville Withington's avatar

The rest of them didn't even pretend to be sorry. I think the hypocrisy is even worse. Trying to play both sides. And her voting yes meant Susan Collins could vote no safely. I expect that was part of the deal.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

“Moderate republican” is an oxymoron.

clarinda harriss's avatar

But even though I’m

A birthright democrat, I do remember way back when there were a few honorable republicans.

Mary Hall's avatar

You'd have to go waaaaaaaaay back. The last honest Republican president was Eisenhower.

Cat's avatar

There is no such thing as a moderate or reasonable republican. Period. Eisenhower was the last somewhat decent one.

Mary Hall's avatar

He tried to warn us about the dangers of the "Military Industrial Complex" in his farewell address.

Patty Smith's avatar

He certainly did. And he was spot on.

Our former republican gov in blue MD is much respected—by me. I speak of gov hogans am also a far of dem gov now, Wes Moore.

Mary Busch's avatar

I have respect for McCain, who fought Trump and won when he voted against repealing ACA. I consider him the last of honorable Republicans who was willing to reach across the aisle. Don't get me wrong. He certainly had some warts, like picking Palin as his running mate to appease the Tea Party.

Nancy's avatar

But was that his idea...? :-/

Or was it "strongly suggested" by the political consultants, etc.? :-/

Wasroger's avatar

Certain seems the ranks have been thinned,

Wasroger's avatar

And a MAGA disciple would say there are no moderate Democrats. Midterms will (hopefully) show the error in those beliefs.

Linda Unger's avatar

My impression of her is imply one thing, do the other. This isn't the first time she has done this. And then has the unmitigated audacity to moan about it. She's a blight on Congress, if she won't go willingly, kick her out Alaska.

Carol M Robinson's avatar

Lisa and her twin Susan Collins (R) Maine.

Nancy's avatar

What this country needs is a good "vote of no confidence" ability.

Kate's avatar

She can fuck all the way off! Yes, she’s going to hell, I just hope it’s soon

Glennz2013's avatar

Thank you, God!

Lisa, and the other gutless Cons like her, are the reason we have the felon bully in the White House!

Can you put Lisa and Swaggart in the same burning shyte filled room so they may weep Crocodile tears together?

Dear God, Aren't all republican congress folk destined for hell?

Let's start early and make their existence here a living hell.

Betsy L's avatar

Murkowski is stupid. If she'd refused to vote for the bill, the entire country would have been fine, or better than it will be, and Alaska wouldn't have needed any carve-outs. Murkowski did want to suppport her party, and didn't want Dumpy to say mean things about her in a bunch of tweets. That's all it is, her sole motivation.

Nancy's avatar

Aw, wuzza! Seriously?! THAT'S what they're afraid of?? How many death threats and worse have progressives gotten since the turn of the 20th century, if not before???

Fucking chicken shits. X-P

Cindy Watter's avatar

I think she is afraid of the pardoned J6ers. That’s why DT pardoned them. His private militia.

John S. Way's avatar

Yeah, she's getting a spot right on the lake of fire. All the time she spent claiming she'd vote against this and then what happened? They fucking bribed her, and it worked. All because they're allowed to ignore someone who says "yeah, this shit doesn't fly, get it out of this bill." Why even have a Senate Parliamentarian if they can simply be ignored...?

Robot Bender's avatar

The ironic thing is that Trump will come after Alaska just the same. It's like Judas' thirty pieces of silver were counterfeit and worthless.

Old Man Kerapsak's avatar

Don’t believe what they have to say. By their actions, you shall know them.

John Jacob's avatar

Imagine being so morally bankrupt that you’d sell out your entire town just to save your own home?

Well, imagine no more!

Murkowski really doesn’t care about this country’s people or future…otherwise she’d have voted “no”.

So there you go…more cowardice and misdirection in the MAGA GOP 🤔

Now back to the MAGA House of Representatives for a final drama ridden smoke-and-mirror saga to cap things off officially and begin systematically murdering Americans 👍

🇺🇸Thanks MAGA🇺🇸

Mary Jo's avatar

That last line is meant to be sarcastic...

Rick A.'s avatar

I would even say Murkowski is MORE evil than Stephen MILLER. People like her sold their souls and know better. There is a special place in hell for ALL the people like her who destroyed our country and inflicted untold evil and cruelty on millions of innocent people.

I do not curse often, but God, please damn them.
