Actually the Corporation Sole of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the full official name) did make the listif you read down. The problem for the crybaby senators is - wait for it - they didn't get labeled with Christian first, just listed on their own. The CSoPoCoJCoLDS leaders (don't call them Mormons the last old guy president Nelson declared that a victoey for Satan, nk ) are super duper sensitive about this. Yeah wbat did they expect from the white "Xian" nationalist fascists?
It's still on the list, but they took it out from under the "Christian" umbrella.
What I don't get is why the Christian Church/Disciples of Christ & the United Church of Christ didn't make the cut. Too progressive & Christlike, maybe?

I'd argue that the LDS church is an offshoot or successor of Christianity that falls under the Abrahamic faiths' umbrella but is separate from Christianity itself. It's similar to Islam in the way it accepts and honors Jesus and the Bible but has other holy scriptures, leadership, and history. There are also fundamental differences in the beliefs about what happens after death among other things. I have a B.A. in Religious Studies and have personally studied the LDS Church among other Abrahamic faiths so I'm not coming at this from nowhere. However, I can understand why some LDS and non-LDS people may argue that it is more like the differences among the various denominations of Christianity but it just seems too distinct in my opinion.
