"Billionaires aren’t gods. They’re parasites."

YES! THIS! 🙌 Let's make business healthy again!

Went for a medical appt that I scheduled six months ago today. Most of the support staff, lab, and urgent care folks were out. Just docs with scheduled appts. The eye doc I saw asked if I <cough> had the day off. :-)

Friends, remember that today, the folks on the right side of history are the ones standing up to the despots, billionaires, and bigots.

The ones licking the boot will not be remembered kindly. And when their descendants ask where they stood, they will have to explain why.

Thank God for your humor! LOL! I did go to a local farm which I love and picked up a loaf of sourdough bread that I can't wait to devour.

Punkette's avatar

Yummm, Sharon! 😋 Enjoy!

It's hard to do this when I already boycott all of them but Starbucks. Had deeee-licious coffee with old friends at local roastery. Today, now, I'll cancel my WaPo subscription, with apologies to all excellent journalists still there.

I am participating in the economic blackout today. There is also a list of other blackout events.

Heck, I wish that all federal employees, all 2.4 million of them would stay home for an entire week. See what stupid email Musk sends out then. I wish the federal employees would stay home with the demand of getting Elon booted out before they agree to return to work. That would show the one "in charge" who actually hold the power of the government.

Jean(Muriel)'s avatar

That Sarah is exactly right! Go girl/ woman!!!

In celebration of fuck the rich I cancelled all of my subscriptions at Amazon. No more auto renew, going to look local for replacements next time I need something.

Sooz Hall's avatar

I look on Amazon then buy the same (or close as I can get) locally or elsewhere. If it costs more I figure it’s part of the tax I’m more than willing to pay to support my local business or other entrepreneurs. Well, and I support Costco.

Nancy's avatar

Yeah, Costco's cool; dunno what billionaire owns them, but at least they're willing to stand by /some/ principles. :)

Oooh...this is so good. Every little monkey wrench we can throw into their vile machine is a vote for freedom, democracy and life. I am staying home and reading books today. Might get supremely stoned. Yay! Oh, just FYI - Mump is signing an exec. order today making English the official language of the US. They want no immigrants who are not fluent. I wonder how folk who speak Spanish, Arabic, Polish, Italian, German...you get the idea...feel about this and what 'punishments' do the UnDynamic Evil Duo have in mind for those who continue to speak any language but English? Of course, they have already insulted and alienated the rest of the world, so why not do the same here? Good thing they are not young. If either one wakes up not quite alive, I will shed not a tear.

Samantha's avatar

What I forgot to mention is that their 'official language' thing is illegal and unconstitutional. But what of that? Such silly things, rules and laws and customs and honesty and courtesy. Best get rid of them all, am I right? Of course not. Bleah!!!

Frederica Huxley's avatar

He,he - what about all the Russians who are going to arrive, thanks to their Gold Cards? Are they going to be forced to speak English?

Bronwyn Halls's avatar

He wants the death of Native languages as well, of course. And eventually the Natives themselves. Everyone not white.

We need a national strike, or walk out. It would be scary, because you know employers, especially of large corporations, would threaten to fire anyone who participated. But it would send a strong message. Without their workers, they and their companies are nothing.

Mary Wondra (WA)'s avatar

Something along those lines March 15. Not sure who is spearheading it but it's out there.

Nancy's avatar

And it's a day after the Week Without Amazon, starting March 7, iirc.

Jean(Muriel)'s avatar

Go now!!! We have the power…. It isn’t in writing about our whims…. It is staying home, walking out, demanding impeachment.

If you were a felon…. Where do you know you’d be?????

Samantha's avatar

Just thought that I would pass this along. I got an email from Indivisible.org, requesting that people call their Democratic Representatives and Senators and ask them to hold town meetings during their next recess. This is so that they can answer our questions about what is happening and work with us to find the things that we the people can do to support them and fight with them against Mump. And, if your reps and sens. are Repubs, call, ask for a town meeting and, if they consent, show up and let them have it.

Sooz Hall's avatar

And if they don’t, letter and postcard-bomb their offices.

Nancy's avatar

From what I'm hearing, the Rethugs aren't going to be holding Town Halls any more... X-D

Buq-buq-buq-buq-beKAH! Chick-kens! :D

Staying home for my birthday and the only thing I did on Face Book was share this.

Punkette's avatar

🎶 Happy Birthday to you!!! 🎶 💐

Nancy's avatar

Lucky for us, my hubby's birthday was on the Twenty-SEVENTH...we didn't have to go out or spend a dime on anything that Friday. :)

Richard Spiering's avatar

Sorry, Cadet Stimpy, I'm already a paid subscriber. 😁

Jan Frederick's avatar

I think it smite be a good time to call the exterminator for those parasites!!

We need an extra special WEEK for some of those businesses (like Amazon, Facebook, etc.) and not just one day. Viva le Rebellion!! Thank you, God! Amen! Awomen!

P.S. If any of you are not on BlueSky yet you should join. I recently did and it's wonderful!!!!!

Nancy's avatar

Apparently, there will be a week coming up, starting, I believe, on the 7th and extending to the 14th. :)

And after that, there's the Shutdown 0315... ;-)

Jan Frederick's avatar

Thank you, I saw that after I posted!! Can't wait for the Shutdown!

(Feb. 22):

(me): Dumb question, I bought tickets yesterday for a movie on Friday, February 28 ... can I go see it? Or ... ? Let me know ... 🙂

(Friend): 'You already bought the tickets in advance, so you won’t be making the purchase on that specific day. Maybe just try not to eat out before or after at a big chain restaurant, don’t use your credit card for any other purchases at the theatre, don’t fill your car up with gas going to or from the show, etc. You can have an impact that way! I’m hopeful that everyone’s efforts to not spend that day are noticeable, and hopefully it’ll start to clue-in corporate folks who should be nervous of “we the people!”’

👏👍 :)

Gillie's avatar

Our movie theater is Harkins. It’s an independent theater chain that was born in Tempe Arizona. Their first theater is still open. So I have no issue with buying anything from them.

Maureen Twomey's avatar

P.S.: I'm not feeling well, so I canceled the tickets ... I feel better already! ;)

Anna Oba's avatar

Dammit, Karyn Milos beat me to it. 😁

Rachel C's avatar

I had to break the boycott slightly to buy cough syrup for my 98 year old mother. But I paid cash at my local independent pharmacy. Where I also get all my own meds.

Leslie S J's avatar

Rachel, you didn’t break the boycott. You used cash and supported a local business. Yay you!

Nancy's avatar

I had my last phys. therapy appointment on Friday; I had to pay their bill, but it would've been wrong not to, I think. :-/

I'd misremembered about not having to go anywhere on Friday, or paying for anything, but they are a local business, and it was through my hubby's work HSA, so ultimately, the Feds will be paying for it? :)
