Okay…..I stress that I haven’t confirmed this (and I apologize if others have posted this), but I’ve heard that the reason the busses stopped running is because the owner of the bus company was concerned about getting stiffed by trump, since he’s notorious for not paying people who perform services. (I’ve lived and worked in NJ & NY my entire life, and personally know contractors who were financially ruined by this lying, cheating, miserable bastard.)
Apparently, the owner of the bus company asked for payment in full before going back, but trump refused. So the owner first told the drivers to “slow things down” while he tried to resolve the situation. He told them to drive slowly, go get gas, stop for a bathroom break. And when negotiations failed, he told them to just head straight back to the depot immediately.
Here’s the thing: anyone who has ever hired a bus or limousine for, say, a wedding, bachelor party, or a group trip, knows that payment is expected IN FULL & PRIOR to service, or at least before the job is completed. Now, of course we know that trump didn’t hire the company himself, and he certainly wasn’t going to have to physically open his wallet and pay the drivers. But we also know that it wasn’t the first rodeo for trump OR the person who did set up the bus arrangements. It was either one of trump’s staff or a contracted, professional kind of event planner. So if this scenario is indeed what happened, no matter who set it up, they ALL KNEW payment would be required either before or at the time of pickup.
It really looks like trump wanted to have a captive audience for his ranting photo op but once again didn’t want to pay for it.
What I find INSANE is that, even though he absolutely fucked these thousands of people, they will continue to sing his praises and vote for him. I even saw a picture someone had posted of the stranded crowd with the biblical phrase “from the mountains to the desert he shall lead us”.
