Yep. Very appropriate. I consider these people

To be traitors to my community and want nothing to do with them.

Anybody who belongs to the Log Cabin Republicans is obviously very confused, so I do not ascribe any credence to their opinions

Assholes love to provoke others. They can’t help themselves because they only think of themselves. I am so f^cking tired of these idiots.

Good for the Badlands management and employees. They want to keep the bar open for everyone.

I agree. I had no idea there could could be so many narcissistic leaders. And Trump and president Elon is totally fucking up our nation.

I'm not gay and I don't drink, but I do live in Sacramento County and I'm thinking of going to Badlands for an iced tea or something, just to show them my support for being the 'good guys' in all of this idiocy! I'm so proud of them for taking the high road! On the other hand, at the price of gas, maybe I'll just send them a card. I'll do something nice to let them know I think they're great! And that stupid Steven Bourassa- WTH was he thinking?? What as asshat doing something just to be a jerk?? SMH.

Go for it! In my experience, LGBTQ venues are generally very welcoming of allies. If they serve food, as most bars I've known do, you could go there for a late lunch or early dinner.

Great idea, Karyn! Thank you! :)

Karyn, sadly, I've realized they don't open until 9:00 pm AND they're a 'disco club' (which I disliked even in my youth) so NOT my cuppa tea! At 71, I'd be half asleep and way out of my element and, despite my bad hearing, I'd go nuts in about 2 seconds! LOL! But they will surely be getting an appreciative card from me to thank them for being so wonderful :)

Ah, too bad. Many bars, at least restaurant-style bars, open at 3 or 4 pm. For a dance club, however, a later opening is typical. I'm sure they appreciate your support!

It was supposed to be a power play, a thumb in their eyes. It sucks when you're a bully and no one wants you around.

On the other hand, he's willing to go there again, just leaving his hat at home. If he's not an obnoxious twat to other patrons, then even he should be welcome. :)

If he IS an obnoxious twat, he should be personally banned. They reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

I have always been confused by gay people who support ideologies that condemn them. I’m glad that bars and other places that are welcoming to gay people are saying to the maggots get out of here.

Being a trump supporter has nothing to do with sexual identity. But morality does.

Badlands is badass. Well done! After the Chatterbox in Indianapolis made news for kicking a MAGA to the curb, and now Badlands is banning the red hate gear, does this mean the gays are going to save us? Didn't see this plot twist coming, but I approve! 👏👏👏👏

Also, the Log Cabin Republicans can fuck all the way off with their shit. And when they get there, fuck off some more.

As a 67 yr old gay man I marched in countless parades and protests since I first came out at 17. I was in D.C. when we had 1 million of my brothers, sisters, trans, and straights all there demanding equal rights for our community. I have been spit on, have had rocks and bottles thrown at me, and my life threatened just for demanding my rights. Now someone wants to come into the safe places our communities gather wearing symbols of hate and bigotry against that same community. I DON'T THINK SO! Take your bullshit elsewhere, you don't know what discrimination is you feckless, uneducated, bigot. REMEMBER STONEWALL!

Kathy J's avatar

I understand, Wes. I started spending time in gay clubs in my early 20s and always felt comfortable being around others where we could just be ourselves. I would have been horrified if someone came in with a hate symbol on a hat or shirt. This patron is just thinking, why not wear it and see? Wow! I can't believe he even went to that point. I guess he understands now, and I am at least glad instead of throwing a fit and screaming bloody murder, he is just getting on with things. As far as Mr. LCR, Preston, can fuck all the way off. I have known a few gay men and women over the years who seem to have some deep-seated self-hatred or conflict. I am not a psychologist, but they all screamed "conflict" whenever I was around.

Teddy Gingerich's avatar

"Why not wear it and see?" FAFO, dude. Remember the bartender in Indy with the baseball bat?

You straight cis MAGA types are mired in the past - a past that is as real as your fantasies of 50s Leave it to Beaver suburbs. LGBTQ folks aren't mincing "sissies." They are all types of people and lots of them would love to kick your ass. This isn't a video game.

Nancy's avatar

I thought the hat-wearer /was/ gay (and a MAGA...Republican.....)? As long as he's not going to harass and bully anyone there, and leaves the Red Hate at home...if he /is/ a dick when he returns to the bar, he should be individually banned.

There's a guy (I want to say, Daryl Davis? can't recall atm) who's managed to "de-program" 200 KKK guys, simply by being willing to talk with them...a black jazz musician. Maybe this MAGA dude can be de-programmed by listening to decent people on a regular basis. :)

(And yeah, I agree; one of the people who refused to let the terrorists crash the jet into one of the 9/11 targets was a rugby-playing, powerful, angry gay dude. Sadly, there were no survivors of the resultant crash [they hadn't regained control in time], but the passengers were all heroes there.)

“Gay Republicans are finding out they cannot wear the red hat of hatred in LGBTQ+ nightclubs”

Don’t you mean the mark of the beast?

Elon showed up in a Cadillac like he doesn’t even know Tesla. When your cars scream “tech bro fascist,” I guess hiding’s the only safety feature that works

FAFO is always hilarious when it's this justified.

When the republicans start loading LGBTQ onto cattle cars headed for the camps, there’s going to be one guy in every group screaming, “Wait! I’m one of the good ones! I have a maga hat! I have a maga hat!”
