Letters from God always struck me as humorous invective regarding dear leader and his Maga’ts. From time to time there was less humor, but for the most part the wit made our situation somewhat more bearable. Today, this piercing narrative and touching respect for Canada and Mexico reflect an appropriate tone - certainly divinely inspired. Amen.

Thank you, God, and also Mr. Rogers. The helpers will prevail, God willing and the creek don’t rise!

I'm sure God and Jesus and the rest of the gang are chillin' with Mr. Rogers right now. :)

Thank you Canada and Mexico for coming to our aid. And for practicing the Golden Rule. As for our incoming leadership:

“Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.” (Psalm 101:5) Preach.

I can sum up Canada and Mexico's actions in one word: CLASS. DonOld Dumbass doesn't know what that word means. Someone needs to school him on that, but I suspect he doesn't want to know how to be a class act. Most Magats think it is a room with a bunch of little desks in it. God, please bless Mexico and Canada for showing true character. (I love the Mr. Rogers quote, too!) Amen! Awomen! Aramen!

Love the Amen, 'Awoman'...Thanks for the clever use and share!

I wish I could take credit for the Awomen, but it came from a God post about 3 months ago. Thanks, anyway!

All those words come from God. Don't they?

The type of class that Trump has is and always has been ALL LOW, BUT HE HAS LOTS OF THAT!

Neighbours helping neighbors. We help, we stand with our friends and allies. We don't fight and invade them. The Canada-USA relationship has been a long standing one, at least since the War of 1812 when the USA tried to annex what is now the Canadian western provinces. We prevailed. In fact, while the Brits were busy with France, we made up the rest of the British forces who burned the White House and other buildings in DC to the ground. If we hadn't prevailed, we may well not be the country we are now. Funny how things work out. I digress. As long as Trump doesn't try to annex us, we'll get through the next 4 years together. Please, next time, I hope Americans choose wisely.

" - Bezos is paying Melania Trump $40 million for a documentary on Amazon" Really? Well, at least we know the IRS knows she's made at least that much for tax purposes. What I want to know is how many, and who, will watch it? I mean, I don't care, do you?

I'd be interested to know how much --if any-- the billionaire oligarchs have contributed to help California. They could each easily give $1M and not even miss it. Muskrat could give a billion, and it wouldn't even cut his daily income by much. When are they going to stand up?

Bikracer's avatar

It’s hard to wrap your head around but $1,000,000,000 is $1,000,000 X $1,000,000 muskrat wouldn’t even notice!

Name: lenora good, Guest's avatar

oh, yeah. why help California? the uber wealthy are going to have to rebuild their mansions, and it's going to cost soooooo much, especially if they didn't have fire insurance. Oh, can't you just hear their sobs at their loss? /meow/

Nancy Sloop's avatar

It's not the "uber wealthy" we need to help so much as all the rest of the people in CA, people like the rest of us. I live in NC, not in the mountains or on the coast, but I sure didn't quibble about sending aid to FL, TX or our own moutains when disaster happened. There are "uber wealthy" everywhere, and they will come out ok. But we 'regular people' need help occasionally; that's what our government is for, and also why I give to charitable organizations to help.

Hannah's avatar

Like everywhere else, there are rich and poor. We are talking about loss. And rebuilding a life from that loss. Please don't mock someone else's tragedy.

Nicely said Hannah. 💔

Many live in these areas whom are not wealthy billionaires. Too, those who have worked hard to earn such an income to have a pricey home - jealousy is a flaw - I commend these owners their earnings. I wish safe speedy recovery to all negatively impact by these outrageous fires.

Catherine's avatar

Thank you Nancy for your generous, caring heart that is equal in visioning the calamities of all!🙌🏻

Bikracer's avatar

That is cruel! It doesn’t matter how wealthy or how poor those who lost EVERYTHING are, they deserve our empathy and aid! They lost all of their memories!

Think about that, think about looking at where your home used to be and seeing nothing but a pile of rubble!

Thanks Leona for the great laugh...much needed!!

I was born and reared in Southern California. It is the only place I have ever lived so I am one of those wildfire weary residents. You know what the definition of "futile" is? It's being in the middle of a firestorm, winds so fierce they knock you to the ground and thinking you can save yours and your neighbors' home with your garden hose. I've driven through fire -- mother, pet and electric typewriter in tow (do not ask....your brain turns to mush in those situations) hoping to God (yes, that's You, dear) an ember would not fly up my exhaust pipe and blow us all up. I remember so vividly coming home after one fire and being absolutely stunned that the house was still there. The fire came about 30 feet of my home and stopped. Do you remember that fire, God? Of course You do. I've been thanking You over and over again every time I have to bug out and every time I come home and have something left. And I've been tugging on Your coat sleeve all week long. I got an evacuation order. My car is always packed for such an emergency (I've learned to own a car I can sleep in night after night)....and the order was lifted. I scraped by in no small part this time due to the kindness of Canada and Mexico. Colorado also came to our aid. I am welling up and spilling over as I write this because my wildfire PTSD takes over and I relive every single minute of every single wildfire I have gone through. And my poor State is still burning up. Children are without the sanctuary of their homes and their beloved pets. We only have each other -- those who care enough about us to come to our aid. And I thank all the firefighters. I will allow myself a moment to brag and say, California has the best and the bravest. I owe them from now until the end of eternity. One last thing: If you hear anyone say "Oh, those rich people....they can always rebuild." I do not give a rat's ass if a home cost $5,000 or $5,000,000! It is someone's HOME! Think of the children, think of the wildlife! This notion that having great gobs of money makes leaving your home to burn a slight hiccup is callous and cruel. It's just so MAGA! For all of you who have prayed (in any manner) for my beloved State, I thank you from the bottom of my sooty heart.

I too am a native Californian, but from the north. I spent much of my life in the northern Sierra Nevada foothills, sweating every summer until the lifegiving rains returned. In 09 over 2,000 acres of our 2,700-acre property burned because PG&E power line insulators failed. I saw the 1/2 mile of line come down and hit the ground. That fire burned to within 600 feet of our house. Had we not mowed all grasses around the area and grazed the rest, more would have burned. Assholes like Musk have not a clue that when fire and wind come together, all a person can do is GET OUT OF THE WAY! When the hurricanes hit the east last year, did Musk and Trump BLAME THE PEOPLE OF THOSE STATES FOR NOT DOING ENOUGH? If firefighters had had all the water in those hydrants they wished, THE RESULT WOULD BE THE SAME! SOME NATURAL THINGS CAN'T BE STOPPED!

Niquie Hutchison's avatar

Ranger, thanks for posting. I do not ever take comfort in someone else's heartbreaks thinking it will assuage mine. But having someone send out a "been there/done that" missive makes me feel like a part of an understanding community. I am reveling in story about your home that did NOT burn to the ground because you heeded the call of your common sense. Good on, ya, Ranger!

I was born and raise in Los Angeles county as well. In Malibu and Topanga Canyon. When I was a little girl the Malibu Fire of 1957 came through Fernwood Pacific and we were ordered to evacuate.

My mother was a single mother and had worked and saved to buy that house. She didn’t want to leave but the firefighters came and said we had to. I remember being in the backseat looking out the windows of the car and seeing flames on both sides of the road. I understand your PTSD!

We were lucky! When we were allowed back in, our house was still there. The ice plant surrounding the house was smoldering and the glass and cement block house across the street was melted.

Our phone even worked. My mom without thinking picked it up to call my aunt in Venice to tell her we were home.

"My mom without thinking picked it [the phone] up to call my aunt in Venice to tell her we were home."

Only those who have left their home to burn truly know how precious that statement is.

You got back to your home. Ranger got back to his. And against all odds, I got back to mine, time after time.

'Racer, Malibu is part of my community. I can be down on PCH (Malibu) in 15 minutes via three canyons. Ah, but Topanga Canyon! Now, there's a canyon with history! It, like Malibu Canyon, is near and dear to my heart. I never cease to be amazed when I make it through the beautiful Santa Monicas and voila! There's my beautiful Pacific Ocean, sunlight dancing like diamonds on the water.

It's home.

So tired of crying for our nation, God - the bullies of and in - gagggg- new administration. How could USA Americans be so dense to vote in tRump again, touting that he wants to take over Greenland (correct country named?). Musk getting a role in this government too?! Oh God help us please. Love thy neighbor(s) as in/of Canada and Mexico for aiding in subduing the out of control CA fires - my heart breaks for all destroyed, killed by the devouring inferno in that beauteous state. Much Gratitude to Canada and Mexico for your saving Grace of kindness and help. Thank You God for being more open-minded rather than far right conservative and for doing what YOU can for all lives saved and aided in CA, USA🙌🏻😇💗💜

Echoing the thanks to Mexico and Canada. Thanks also for considering the people in this state instead of the country as a whole. I hope I can stand as strong as you guys.

I believe ALL Campaigns should have caps on donations and companies should NOT be allowed to dump as much money as they want into a campaign for favors. It's obscene the amount of capitol that changed hands in this years election. There should actually be a "LAW" against "buying" an election which is basically what happened. I remember when it used to be the bars were not allowed to open on election day until the polls closed BECAUSE they didn't want people to be "bribed" into voting for one candidate over another. So as far as I can see Melon Husk is "guilty" of campaign finance tampering or in other words "bribery" to win this past election. Money should NEVER be an option that should come into play during an election. Candidates should run on things like "merit, empathy, platforms of what they want to do to make our country better." NOT here's $1,000 dollars I want you to "register to vote (and vote for the candidate that I support)" which basically happened in the state that I live in. They called it a campaign to get people registered to vote, however, in the tiny letters at the bottom of the page it said when you sign this you promise to vote for "our" candidate. People saw green and said "heck for that kind of money I'll vote for whoever they tell me to vote for." Those that ran this scam should be jailed for breaking the law not be elected to the highest position in the land. It's called Thievery fair and square and they should be prosecuted for it.

I certainly thank Canada and Mexico both, for ignoring the crazy words and antics of our Soon-To-Be-Toddler-in-Chief, and those of his corrupt band of looney, cowardly imitators, and nonetheless decided to respond people-to-people, in memory of times when America stood by to do the same, Hopefully our country continues to receive grace, whether or not a majority of our voting public have earned or deserve it.
