Dear Canadian friends,

Sane Americans support the boos. We see you. We get it.

I, as an American Vietnam veteran, am all for the Canadians BOOING the U.S. with its SHIT POT DICTATOR! I am also for our west coast and northeast states (And as many others as want) to petition Canada to join their country! While Trump is going to Saudi Arabia to kiss Putin's ass and sell out Ukraine and Europe, it is time to form a new NATO, WITHOUT TRUMPLAND! Trump has NEVER been able to handle a REAL crisis without crumbling! LET'S GIVE HIM ONE! The country that we fought and bled for died on January 20, 2025! Sometimes if a house is too bug and rat infested, there is no choice but to burn it to the foundations and start over with guardrails that can NEVER allow this kind of scum to ever rise to the top!

John S. Way's avatar

Agreed. If Calfornia and other states want to join Canada, all i ask is that we blue dots in red states be given a period to migrate there, whatever it takes, before the transition. If many of us have to live in tents for a time, I'm sure that wouldn't be a terrible thing.

Michael J McGee's avatar

Ranger,,,that is a perfect response.

Samantha's avatar

I agree and, being a west coaster meself, I understand that impulse. My kids and grandkids may all be heading there. We can, as Thomas Jefferson reminded us on the wall of his memorial in D.C., take our Constitution and change what needs to change. It was designed to do just that and adapt to the changes in our cultures that have taken place between 1776 and 2025. Jamie Raskin, Congressional Rep. from Maryland, talks about the compact and he, being a constitutional expert, might be able to help. Ranger, I am hoping that we can end the Mump and their horribleness without violence, but that may not be possible. Each of us has to pick our battles carefully. Burnout is very much a problem and can lead folk to actions that they might not otherwise take. Would Canada want us? Will they grant sanctuary to those who ask?

Nancy's avatar

Well, if they signed onto the same "protect people seeking political asylum" international agreement THAT WE DID, back in the 1950s (probably 'cause we wanted to actually help anyone fleeing the USSR), Canada might actually take it seriously.

Considering my hubby and I are too old to immigrate there via the usual methods, I hope they do. :-/

Thank you for your service.

Thank you for acknowledging my service.

They were perfectly justified! I'm a sane American! And what is happening in our country is NOT RIGHT ON ANY LEVEL! Hopefully it ends sooner rather than later!

Oh say can you hear

All the BS that's here

Coming out of the mouth

Of America's big lout

Whose main job at this time

is to lie and to whine

He's too dumb to do much

So he gave X his trust

And the racism's where

His power really is there

Those who voted for him

Don't know the trouble we're in

Oh, say can we find someone

Who isn't rich

To clean up this big mess

And find the guts to deport X

Well done, Jan! Amen and awomen!

We do have our politicians who would absolutely love to do the same thing here that the Trump-lead crew are getting away with there. For the moment, they are rapidly losing support. I really hope Canadians sitting on the fence, or just apolitical, understand the urgency of the moment after witnessing what is happening with your country and that the momentum continues. The potential selling out of Ukraine lead by Americans should serve as another wake up call.

I’m glad you understand why we boo. Looking forward, we will have to make alliances with like-minded Americans who want to stop the wanton destruction.

Samantha's avatar

Anna, I know so many folk, including my kids and grandkids, who are hoping to go to Canada. I, for one, will not...because this cannot last long and I would dearly love to see all of North America, for starters, move powerfully to expand and fulfill the promise of our Constitution. Even knowing that our history is riddled with genocide, violence and slavery, so many of us have spent our lives trying to live up to that promise. Each culture would live their own versions of democracy and, in my hopes, establish and strengthen the bonds of friendship and respect between them. None of this shit, and I am deeply saddened to know that the Vile Brigade is growing its own in Canada. Maybe, if the blue state joined you guys, even for a while, we could end this evil. Except that Mump would have no hesitation, no qualms about nuking the West Coast or, at least, send in our own military to teach us that he is God and must never be questioned. Sigh. I can only hope and pray that, when Mump gives the order for our military to attack and defeat its own people and Constitution, the majority stand down and refuse. I know that there are those so besotted with Mumpism that they won't hesitate. I just hope that they are few and that the world understands that, while a very large minority of Americans would happily throw their kids into Moloch's waiting arms, the majority simply want what you want - to live in peace, explore reality, have and love a family...our similarities outweigh our differences, by quite a lot.

Nicely said, Samantha.

Agreed. We can not have Pierre P become our next PM. He will just kiss Trump's butt. He has no actual policy ideas. Mostly his idea is "Trudeau sucks"...similar to "Biden's fault" as Trump likes to blame everything on Biden. SOME Canadians blamed Trudeau so much they bullied him into resigning. Luckily he is still our PM til an election is called and there is one thing that man does well and it's represent Canada!

Anna Oba's avatar

Trudeau has been doing us proud, especially these last few weeks.

Sadly, Anna, Australia is under the same threat with out Federal elections due sometime in May and the Murdoch media is working overtime to promote the heinous Leader of the Opposition who is following the Trump agenda and even has his own billionaire financing him (although he's allegedly worth over AU$300m although he started out as a cop...).

Google Peter Dutton, his past and his current agenda, the frightening amount of support he seems to have, and weep for Australia.

Anna Oba's avatar

I just skimmed through the Wikipedia page about him. That, alone, tells me he needs to be kept away from the levers of power. I feel for you and hope that what is going on in the US wakes up enough of the people considering Dutton to reconsider. We, too, have one major news conglomerate that has bought up local newspapers across the country that serves as a cheerleader for our Conservatives. It’s scary and frustrating.

Im seriously old enough to remember that the United States of America DID STAND. WITH pride and respect and our hands over hearts bursting with gratitude and love for our country as we sang the anthem boisterously TOGETHER!! WE DON'T HAVE THIS RIGHT NOW!! I for one want that back! Our country is being laughed at and just dumb proved the total ignorance of the vice-presidentcy in his 'speech '???!! I'm watching the asshole of America being booed with dt/ muskrat and just dumb! And the nominees that are being put through into extremely vital government positions are totally ignorant inexperienced dummies too. dt thinks he's still on a reality show - musk is leaping around in the 'sandbox of America "like the toodler he too still is and jd ( just dumb-I stole that by the way!) is a laughing stock on the world stage!! And this is our country now. No wonder we're being booed - with this playbill we deserve it!

Anita Merritt's avatar

I’m a proud Canadian. I generally don’t support booing anthems but I 100% support booing the American anthem every opportunity we get and then sing the Canadian anthem loud and proud. I don’t even watch hockey so I don’t care what happens during the game, but I just watch For the anthems. I have zero respect for the United States of America . The good citizens of the US, better get out there and take your country back.

Linda Morland's avatar

I understand your feelings. Some of us are trying to get the Muskrats and DT OUT!

Carla Jo's avatar

Unfortunately, we are not as organized as we should be. We always seem to be waiting for that knight in shining armor to rescue us.

WE ARE THAT KNIGHT as we have always been.

Samantha's avatar

Yes, I agree. And your anthem should, indeed, be sung with pride and joy. Taking back our country will be difficult and we might need the nations who still have any goodwill towards us to help, even if all that can be offered is moral support. Seeing my country, which I love as you love Canada, crumble under the onslaught of the Hate Beast that has usurped the life of not only America but of the world entire, is so painful that I have no words. This experiment was supposed to grow us democratically, not despoticaly. What do we do in the midst of paralyzing grief and fear and the numbness that may finally be wearing off since their election?

Sandra Cowan's avatar

I felt the same. I don't normally boo or support bad sportsmanship, as a Canadian. But it's a statement that lands. We also tell the singers ahead of time that it's not them we are booing.

Michelle Snarr's avatar

Thank God! Back in the day, Charles de Gaulle (who gave his name to an airport in Paris) ruffled some Canadian feathers by declaring “Vive le Quebec libre”. But the whole country is united now. Vive le Canada libre! 🇨🇦

I married a French Canadian once. Years later, after our divorce he went and got his citizenship. Fine, nothing surprising here except that he called to thank me. I wonder how he's feeling about that now? He'll have to ditch his Trump hat at the border if he expects to go home.

I've been sick: heart, mind and soul since over half of brainless USAmericans stupidly voted the Donald and basically his best friend Musket into office AGAIN! I love Canada and the citizens there of. I love my country too, yet no longer idiots here who vote without thinking or doing any research FIRST on candidates PRIOR to voting. Please God, protect we open-minded, kind loving of others residents of the USA.

Nancy's avatar

The way I heard it, it was something like yeah, he won the Electoral College (not a big surprise; I just hope the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact [where, if enough states agree to it, their Electoral Votes go to the candidate who won the popular vote. If they add up to 270...] can get finally passed), but the popular vote as well by something like 29% to Harris's 27-28%. It wasn't a landslide or a mandate; what was depressing was that over 40% of eligible voters didn't even turn out, or voted for a third-party or write-in candidate instead (AGAIN; isn't that what cost us Clinton coming in back in 2016?). X-P

Catherine's avatar

I'm totally with you, Nancy in the disappointment of the number of Americans that didn't bother to vote at all. To those individuals I say: you didn't vote so you've no right to complain.

KHKate's avatar

Dear Canadians,

As the poster said, boo louder. At least half of us cannot believe what we've manifested, overnight.

sam (TX)'s avatar

Open Letter To People of the Globe:

Please BOO louder. I don’t respect us anymore either.

Sincerely,

One Pissed Off American

Samantha's avatar

You might very well have hit upon a good idea. If the world boos loudly and often, and I don't just mean 'booing,' that could very well help a lot. Little kids usually hate it when they are read the riot act to and, metaphorically, booed. It would be, and I can't believe I am saying this, perhaps the most compassionate and helpful thing that the other countries of the world - especially the ones who have liked us and been our friends, trading partners and neighbors - boo us, stop trading with us, basically isolate and ostrasize us until these guys dry up and fade away. Stop all contracts and business with the Musk part of Mump. Laugh at Mump and all of their madness. The Madness of King Mump. Hmm. There might be a movie in there. It would hurt, it would disrupt lives. But it might end the viscious and ugly game and help us to become a better, wiser and more intelligent country.

Josh's avatar

We'll never have that unity and that's good because we don't deserve it! Metaphorically all we do is rape and pillage, laughing the whole time. #smiteusnow

I'm literally in tears. I will never think of our national anthem the same. It has become meaningless. So what if those founders fought and died just to create a nation where ALL are equal. (Even though we have never really been) nevertheless the beautiful words they spoke and wrote as in the Bill if Rights and Constitution now mean nothing.

I was so very proud that day in 1962 as a 14 year old becoming a naturalized citizen. This little Portuguese girl who came to this country as a 4 year old in 1952 was incredibly proud to be an American.

The anthem I've sung thousands of times and taught to my students is now a clanging bell. I'm now 77 and don't know if I'll ever see the return of democracy. I hope and pray so.

Thank you Canada for remaining strong and true!

Nancy's avatar

We didn't have an official anthem for the longest time; not until the 1930s, when a Maryland senator kept nagging everyone to remember what happened at Fort McHenry (where the Star-Spangled Banner wasn't even the original fortress flag flying "through the night"; there was a rainstorm that night, so they ran up the storm banner while lowering the fortress flag, simultaneously so it wouldn't look like they were surrendering). He wound up dying in office, so the rest of his cronies insisted on pushing it through for his sake.

Before then, we had any number of potential, infinitely more sing-able, anthems (it was said Francis Scott Key deliberately chose the tune he did because it WAS such a pain to try to sing if you weren't a pro); the first thing my parents had in common was that they both preferred a lovely song, "America the Beautiful" (O beautiful, for spacious skies/For amber waves of grain/For purple mountain majesties/Above the fruited plain//America, America/God shed His grace on thee./And crown thy good/With brotherhood/From sea to shining sea. [there are more verses, but those are the usual]) rather than a war song from a ridiculous war that we started with Canada (War of 1812)... X-P

I wish the boos were louder, I have a hard time hearing them. The video of the Canda National Athem is so wonderful. Yes, it would be wonderful to return to a “United” States of America as a free democracy. Too many are still drinking the Koolaid. How about a lightening bolt or two to the WH and Mara-Creep-O. You are pretty proficient with those, aren’t you? Please do something to contain the Muskrats and other slimy minions. Thank you.
