I'm in Utah, and I can assure you the vast majority of us do NOT want that data center. The blowback is in local news everyday. We don't need China's reasons to oppose it - we have plenty of reasons of our own.
This is a huge part of the blowback - the Great Salt Lake is in serious danger of dying, it's already like 1/3 the size it used to be (look up how much the Dead Sea is gone, btw) causing known and unknown bacteria spreading into the air. My high school aged son is already on a team tracking known and unknown bacterial samples appearing in homes near the lake. And they want to build data and nuclear sites *IN THE REGIONS* that are DESERTS.
Datacenters are the equivalent of billionaires. They come in and take all the resources from average people, sucking the life blood out of communities, and leave the wreckage behind for the working class. They are an abomination.
It’s well past time to boycott and dump ALL reality shows. Their billionaire “creators” unleashed & now fund the current TEMPORARY shit show. TootleFuckingLoo. Enough Is Enough. Thank You God.

Data centers don't produce any electricity - they only consume it - in huge amounts along with the water needed to cool it down.
