I heard one MAGA political say (paraphrasing) that it’s okay for red states (like my Florida) to do mail-in balloting because they don’t cheat like blue states do.
Now, if ya really think about that, if they’re blue states, they’re gonna vote blue anyway, no matter how the voting is done moron!
We need to turn out in such numbers that there can't be any doubt, any recounts, any one-point differences. If only we could get people to get off their couches and show up... That's the bit that drives me nuts. So many people hit the cosmic jackpot of being born here - with the right to vote here already built in. And they don't use it.
I agree. We have had a half dozen or so seats previously held by Republicans won by Democrats in recent elections. One was in Trumplethinskin’s district that includes Mar-a-Lago. That’s an encouraging sign. Hopefully, we will turn out in droves & win both the House and Senate in November.
As an immigrant, I spent fourteen years in the hideous US immigration system to get the right to vote here. The day I was sworn in as a US citizen, the first two things I dropped in the mail were my voting registration and my passport application.
At the time, I was also volunteering at a small local art gallery. So, I told folks there that this was my swearing-in day - I was really excited. I also mentioned I registered to vote, and one of the ladies said, "But why? Isn't that how they also get you to do jury duty?" Honestly, I wanted to shake her. Apparently, having to do jury duty once in a blue moon was enough for her to decide not to vote. That just.... doesn't compute. I don't get people like that.
Listen.... if people had to spend fourteen years surrendering every bit of their privacy, hours standing in line, hours sitting somewhere being questioned by a DHS agent about being a potential terrorist - maybe they would appreciate it too. What do you think? Should we make it a prerequisite? Oh, and the civics test!
Definitely a prerequisite. I think walking a mile in someone else’s shoe, would wake some people up to the atrocities that are being committed by DHS and ICE.
Well, this wannabe dictator thinks he is a king and not subject to any of the rules and regulations of mere mortals like the rest of us. I'm surprised he didn't start making fun of or insulting the brave reporter who tried to hold him accountable. We've found that mail-in ballots are a trivial source of fraud, if any.
With compulsory registration and voting (and ALWAYS in any election, anywhere) there are invalid votes (4 to 10% depending on the level and issue).
Had a State election last weekend and it looks as if there was a pretty high non-compliance vote. But that State is full of remote desert areas where people would rather pay the measly fine than drive hundreds of miles to vote, or even pick up and post their mail. Especially with Trumpian gas prices right now.
But generally there's around 90% compliance and the naughty people who didn't vote are tracked down and fined.
Bottom line is, Trump doesn't WANT people to want to vote, or try to, unless they are HIS to the core. He wants everyone else to just go away and DEI.
Because of time constraints I have to opine about what Ms Moodie is saying about interfering with elections the one thing that our leader DOESN'T understand is the "MIDTERMS" are STATE RUN. They are not FEDERALLY RUN. So even if he puts ICE agents at polling places they truly can't do much to interfere with the elections (although they may try) all this stuff will hit the fan once HE'S finally out of office. The other factor is even if he messes with the elections, those that want to cast a vote for him won't be able to because HE won't be on the ballots!
