Holy cow, that was incredibly brave of that man, thank you so much for sharing!

Contrary to what many will say, Ahmed did exactly what the Quran tells people to do.

A hero indeed & may he heal well.

Powerful stuff. Thank you for contrasting how differently gun violence is handled (or ignored) in the US vs Australia. Also for pointing out how the NRA-ruled GOP allowed the Clinton assault weapons ban to expire under GWB, and the resulting mayhem. This is insanity.

Dear God, your response to the shootings du jour is perfectly expressed, I wish everyone could hear or read it.

Such a brave man! This is but one example of why it's wrong to vilify an entire race of people. He is a hero with a good heart!

I have taught many muslims in Australia, because many Turkish and other mediterranean peoples have sought refuge here. I found them to be thoughtful, observant, intelligent, hard-working and pacifist. I would trust them with my life, my computer, and even my cat.

Well, maybe not the iMac …

It's nice that you have wonderful stories like the last one with Post Malone, what a hero he is! And you also highlight all the clowns who just don't get either. And finally yes to the Clinton ban on assault weapons and "then" Republicans that let the measure run out without renewing it. Things would have been quite a bit different if we hadn't let it run out (kind of like letting the ACA lapse) but "those that don't want it obviously don't need or want it." They are rich and don't have to worry about their insurance running out.

The only way forward is to make laws permanent. Therefore they cannot expire. The only to change them is through congressional legislation. Then the representatives would be responsible if they undid common sense laws.

Some laws should not have a sundown date.

SCOTUS terms need to expire every 10 years, all overdue. Convicted felon DJT gets to nominate no one

Wow! A true hero! And, the news did not mention Ahmed's heroic act that saved lives! Thank you, God, for shining a light on this man's selfless act of putting his life on the line to save others.

Tikkun olam is mending the world. Whoever saves one soul saves the world entire, as did Ahmed al Ahmed, a fruit stand operator and father of two. Shot twice while disarming the Bondi Beach shooter, he is recovering.

In the video, it looks like our hero has some special strength or skill. You must have been there.

He had love in his heart.

ONE. HUNDRED. PERCENT. He was the Good Samaritan who turned out to be the neighbour that Jesus described, and saved lives with his brave and courageous act.

This summer, 13 miles from my home, a Canadian visitor was shot to death. There was no reason given for the shooting. I received my jury duty letter for 2026. I don’t want to be called to report.

Joy B's avatar

The only way the culprits can be held liable is if we gladly stand up and do our constitutional duty and be part of the jury.

Dianne K's avatar

Potential jurists are questioned. Answering honestly, is the only way someone can get a fair trial. I have been dismissed twice, along with others, because of the questions we were asked. Anyone who lies and is seated, has already made up their mind of the person’s guilt or innocence before the trial begins.

Robot Bender's avatar

I've been selected for jury duty a few times, but the cases were all called off. 🤷‍♂️

Dianne K's avatar

The accused makes a plea deal and avoids a jury trial. That’s the chance they take.

You can delay and also see if you qualify for any of the circumstances that would excuse you from serving.
