I stopped ordering from Amazon a while back...trying to shop local more. I absolutely miss the convenience, but it's absolutely ridiculous for someone to make more than they could spend in ten lifetimes while the people making it possible have to choose between groceries and rent.
You are lucky you can shop local. The only local shops here are boutiques and restaurants, and hair salons. If I need a notebook, a spool of thread, etc my only choice is Walmart.
I never liked Walmart either. Always thought their stuff was cheap and shoddy so never shopped there. I no longer shop at amazon either but can usually find what I need locally, even in my small town, and there are plenty of other stores I can order stuff from online.🇬🇧
When I lived in a large suburb, it was much easier, and everything was close by. Now I live in a rural area near a small town that mostly has big box stores like Walmart. At least we have a Food Lion (which doesn't donate to GOP) but there are no small businesses nearby other than those I mentioned because WalMart and the other boxes have driven them out of business. There were also two I can think of that closed due to Covid and never reopened, and one that closed because the owner retired and could find no one to buy the business.
I do a fair amount if ebay (also try to find listing that are individuals with unique items vs. the big bulk posters...and when possible ones that benefit charities!)
This is truly the epitome of the Haves and Have Not in this country. Forcing people to pee in a bottle is inhuman. I really wish Americans would shut down the economy by staying home and not buying anything for weeks and demand Trump leaves office. It would hit the oligarchs where it hurts, in their pocketbook
Was listening to a podcast about stuff from the Great Depression era. The oligarchs are making capitalism unattractive to the masses. The wave is building.
While I know millions of Americans love their escapes into entertainment (including God,) I will not watch, listen, stream, purchase, or otherwise support anything created by anyone who attended this event. I don't care if that means I'm watching obscure documentaries in Spanish for the rest of my life. And showing up to let God and Jesus entertain me.
Each one of those ugly ass designer outfits could feed a family for a year. How do they look at themselves in the mirror? Let them drink piss water from the bottles with their cake.
These protest actions only prove the point that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that makes the rich superior to any other peoples, especially the workers and those living in poverty. Mark Twain was right: "When the rich rob the poor, it's called business. When the poor fight back, it's called violence." In truth, the fight is empowering and inspirational.
We all lived before Amazon, and we can all live better without it. Our local shops can remain open, our malls can survive, employing thousands of neighbors.
