I'm thinking of the Mexican usage, but it's nice to know the profanity is multilingual. 😁 The literal meaning in Spanish, as in French, is "prostitute" or "whore," but as with many words its popular use, at least among Mexicans, has varied meanings--all vulgar, profane, offensive, not to be used in polite company or at a job interview, i.e., perfectly apropos for that demon leading Russia.
Most likely they share a common Latin root. Not sure if the ancient Romans added all the colorful nuances that today's Mexicans have, but I'm sure they had a few of their own. 😉

I live in Anchorage and I was out there. I doubt very much Putin or the orange turd saw it, but it felt good to make our voices heard. Lots of foreign media was out there. Yesterday I talked to reporters from Japan, and at today's rally I was interviewed by a reporter from China. A friend told me there was a counter protest today of drumph supporters at the same intersection where we were yesterday, and it was only a handful of people. They were outnumbered by the homeless people in that area.

Catchers are the only ones in baseball (that I know of; they do seem more armored these days than I remember) who wear knee pads, but that's not what those are for. ;)
Hockey players would wear a lot more armor (because getting violent while wearing KNIFE BLADES on your feet never made sense to me...), but these are just for -- hmm; those are hard plastic covers over mere foam, so I'm guessing he's gonna be down on those 79 year old knees of his for awhile. ;)

"Puta" is probably a Latin term, since both French and Spanish get a lot of their vocabulary from Rome, like other Romance languages. :)
