Never been prouder to be a Californian (native born) as I was yesterday!!! Gavin has been standing up for democracy and now is taking the fight to them! BRAVO GAVIN, BRAVO!!

Christie sebo's avatar

Amen, Christie

Nancy's avatar

I'M WITH YOU, CHRISTIE (all the Christies here! :D)! Also native born!

SO glad Newson -- er, Newsun -- er, Newsom! that's it! finally stopped hanging out with scum-sucking pig-dogs like Charlie Kirk. ;)

Denise Hall's avatar

Finally so let's go America!! Follow suit!!

In the words of June Osborne, “They are never going to stop coming for us. And even when we’re gone, they’re gonna come for our children and our grandchildren. Fighting might not get us everything, but we don’t have a choice. Because not fighting is what got us Gilead in the first place. And Gilead doesn’t need to be beaten, it needs to be broken.” MAGA needs to be broken.

Gently, Jack Jones's avatar

Without a doubt. And I would turn Osborne’s words around a bit - rather than waiting for them to come for us, we will never stop coming for them! We will never, ever stop until maga is stamped out, gone and broken.

Thank you Governor Newsome! You are right, we do have agency and it is us!

Finally! A Democrat not afraid to stand up for what’s right. I know there are other good Democrats out there. Just imagine what they would do if they banded together! Oh wait…

Christie's avatar

Oops…NEVER BEEN PROUDER THAN I WAS YESTERDAY…it’s early here in the SF Bay Area, still working on my first cup of tea…sorry for the poor grammar above!

Christie's avatar

I have a habit of not proofing what I wrote…only catching my errors after I hit send….using a REAL keyboard and an Ipad! 🙃

Nancy's avatar

Aw, you just gotta stop using a silly pocket computer in your pants to type here, that's all; real computers let you go back and edit! :D

Darlene Reese's avatar

Fucking Amen, indeed!

Lisa Nystrom's avatar

“When they go low, you sweep the leg. Then you pounce and you pound and you pound until there is no sound.” You-damn straight!

Jocelyn B's avatar

It's definitely time!

Nancy's avatar

In European weapons-based martial arts combat, my trainer refers to that as "an insurance shot." As in, have something else already in motion even as the opponent's going down, just in case.

Annie's avatar

I'm saying what everyone else is sayin' - I'VE NEVER BEEN PROUDER TO BE A BORN AND BRED CALIFORNIAN!!!! We will NOT stand for this shit! We are ready to FIGHT!

Nancy's avatar

AMEN! AWOMEN! RAMEN! :D

California will lead the way AGAIN!! :D

(Refresh my memory: are the the 4th or 5th largest economy...ON THE PLANET?! :D The largest non-nation! :D)

For those old enough to know this movie quote: "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" FINALLY, somebody stepped up and grew a pair.

geraldine Schiavone's avatar

Yup 👍🏻 great quote and not just American’s are mad as hell the whole world wants this shit show of fascism to end with their dirt naps

Nancy's avatar

That'd be nice... ;-) Not sure what it's gonna take, though; most countries don't want to ship anything to us any more, nor even deal with us in any way. They sure as hell can't trust us, and I can't imagine that the EU, Japan, or South Korea are gonna go through with their "deals" without at least trying to wriggle free of it, since, y'know, TACO. ;-)

Teri Gelini's avatar

Totally remember that quote so I guess I am old lol

Ellen's avatar

Can I add Tom Cruise to the “bless you” list? He told Trump he didn’t want his stupid award!

Colleen K's avatar

No, not exactly. He "turned it down due to scheduling conflicts," which is just a wimp ass way of getting out of it without insulting trump and any of Cruise's magat fans. But then, I'm not exactly a Cruise fan so maybe I'm being too hard on him. At least he's not accepting it.

Ellen's avatar

Thank you for clarifying that. I’m still glad he’s not accepting it.

Teri Gelini's avatar

Just refusing it was enough for me.

Jocelyn B's avatar

Oh, cool! Was that going to be a Kennedy Center award?

Teri Gelini's avatar

I saw that and was so happy that he would not be part of the lies that drumpf is spreading

Elizabeth Behnke's avatar

You DAMN, Gavin Christopher Newsom and his team are redeeming themselves! Hallelujah!

Nancy's avatar

Looks like he has "buyer's remorse" (or at least "renter's") from that time it looked like he'd be shacking up with Charlie Kirk, yeah... ;-)

He remembered he's a Democrat! :D

My first thought when I heard he was meeting Putin in Alaska was that he was giving it to Russia. I hope he tries. That may just be the bridge too far for people! I can hope ,

Mary Hall's avatar

Alaskans elected a Democratic native Alaskan to the House a few years ago, but she only served one term until the Rethuglicans took control again. That Lisa Murkowski was the lone vote to pass T💩p's Big Fugly Bill tells me that Alaska can fuck off and eat a bag of unsalted Russian dicks.

Robot Bender's avatar

I think the heavily armed Alaskans with defender's advantage would like to have a word with them if they try.

Punkette's avatar

The admirable former Rep. Mary Peltola. I hope she runs again in 2026.

Dawna Stromsoe's avatar

Heard Mary is thinking of running for Governor. She’s a solid human being, inspiring, engaging and dedicated to her state. Unlike Murkowski.

Punkette's avatar

Dawna, that would be be fantastic. I have such admiration for Mary. If she runs for Alaska gov and wins, and if Deb Haaland wins in New Mexico, then we will have two indigenous female Dem governors. Wouldn’t that be wonderful!!! 💙

Dawna Stromsoe's avatar

Mary and Deb are wonderful inspirations. Both care deeply about their constituents. Understandably, I think Mary’s last race was difficult after the shocking loss of her husband and father of their kids.

Punkette's avatar

That was so unexpected and terrible. Poor Mary and her kids. I wept for them when I heard the shocking news. I live in California but had followed Mary and donated to her campaigns, so I felt like I knew her. Got a nice fundraising email from her today, asking for support for the Blue Dog Democrats. I will put them on my list for when I start donating again in a few months. I hope to see Mary running for office again soon. Thanks, Dawna. 💙

Mary Hall's avatar

Follow up: I was very heartened to see so many Alaskans giving T💩p and Putin the welcome they deserve.

Nicky Johnson's avatar

TIMES magazine's Person of the Year better be GAVIN NEWSOM!!!!

Lauran McDaib's avatar

Love to see Gavin and some other Dem Govs starting to give the Repugs hell! Unfortunately many Dem leaders in both branches of Congress continue to stick to that middle of the road shit! They still don't get it!!!

JP Connolly's avatar

I'm with you on that, the middle of the road, on the one side and on the other shit is what won the republicans the last election because the Dems were so damned milktoast (sp?) and basically handed it to them on a plate.

Denise Palesch's avatar

Someone ought to smack them upside the head. Maybe that will reboot their brains.

Nancy's avatar

To be fair, most of the votes in Congress now are split PRECISELY along party lines, and that's where we're failing because we don't have even numbers or a majority. The real pain in the ass is that we can't drag a couple of Rethuglicans with the balls God gave a gopher over to the Light Side of the Force to vote with us on important things. X-P

Jocelyn B's avatar

I am so proud to be a Californian!! I just finished watching HCR's interview with Newsome, and it's terrific. If you haven't seen it, it's here:
