Depeche Mode and Life of Brian in one post: God, you really nailed it today!

Michelle DeAnne's avatar

"Nailed it"... har har har...

Nancy's avatar

Awwww; I'm sure The Kid probably has trigger issues with stuff like that... :(

The Bright Side of Life. Oh how I long to look upon that! I do have to wonder however, how many people actually need their own personal Jesus, made in China. It's bootstrap time pull them up people. Buy food for your kids instead.

Denise Palesch's avatar

Or, if yours are well fed, feed the poor, ye sanctimonious Christian hypocrites.

I took Economics 101 in college a million years ago. I believe the technical financial term for his current issue is referred to as, "go fuck yourself, shit bag." I remember enjoying economics.......

Nancy's avatar

And to think! One of the (legitimate, vs. who knows where Trump got his "very stable genius" credentials) degrees that The Other 2024 Candidate has is in Economics... X-P

"But grrrllz are stinky and icky and we don't want one in charge! Ewwwwww!"

Scott Bernstein's avatar

Can't allow that to happen. Especially, when there's a perfectly fine nazi, rapist, convicted felon insurrectionist to vote for. It turns out, Rod Serling was creating mini documentaries when we he created the Twilight Zone. For so long, we thought it was fiction......

Denise Palesch's avatar

Your Econ professor taught you well. This comment is also enjoyable.

Scott Bernstein's avatar

Wait until you hear my eulogy for the nazi ass tumor. Yer gonna love that one.......

I knew what was going to happen the day he unveiled his harebrained tariffs. When he thinks he's gotten as much out of pumping the stock market, he'll let it crash. I'm getting what wealth we have out of stocks this week. IANA financial advisor, so I can't say what to do next. 😔

I believe we all will.

Waiting for the moment like people are waiting for JC to rise from the dead come Sunday.

All in God’s time.

I don’t laugh at their pain, I laugh at their willful ignorance. How many times did we tell them how awful 47 was? How many times did we warn them that everyone would suffer, not just the “Libs?” They would not listen, and now they are learning. Slowly, painfully slowly, they are learning. If they want to work with us for change, I heartily welcome them. But if they just complain and whine because they thought only those “woke” people would suffer, then I have no sympathy.

Sooz Hall's avatar

Precisely. Does he have a reading/hearing deficit such that he didn’t hear 47 say “Tariffs — RAH” about a skintillion times?? I can feel sorry for someone and still note they’re an ignorant ass.

My late agnostic sister always had Sacrilegious Jokes for Easter, including:

What's Jesus' fave rock group?

Nine Inch Nails

(I'll show myself out.)

I recently heard Jesus Christ's real name was supposed to be Gary, but Mary stepped off to quickly and stubbed her toe.😎

Speaking of YouTube clips:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA1sx-vyWVk

Starring the incomparable John Hurt as The Kid. :)

EDIT: Ooh! Another good one, found while I was looking for that previous one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoReVkF-UZ0

I particularly like the MLK Jr. quote: "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

I know I don't really like taking delight in other's pain, but it's interesting to read that these people who would hurt (hate) others, complain about how they feel mistreated but would still keep their "orange messiah" in office. Absolutely no remorse. It reminds me of the scene where the Monty Python monks chant and hit themselves in the head with a board.

"Ieyasu domine...dona iraes requiem." [THUD]

(not sure about the "dona" bit; "doma"? My Latin is really weak, since I never got the chance to take a class in it in college :-/)

deniway's avatar

Monty Python and the Holy Grail, they're chanting “Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem,” which means “Merciful (well, literally 'all-pitying') Lord Jesus, grant them rest.

Nancy's avatar

Ah, thanks! Yeah, that does make sense now; nice to know I was hearing the "dona" part correctly. :D

Sooz Hall's avatar

Dona is the imperative of donar, which means to give. Think of the word donation. I think all that is correct from 6-9th grade Latin. +/- 72 years ago.

Robot Bender's avatar

"Romanes eunt domus" 😉

Nancy's avatar

"Now write that 100 times on the wall before dawn or I'll cut your balls off."

"Yes, sir! Thank you, sir! Hail Caesar!"

--Monty Python, /The Life of Brian/

(or something to that effect ;-D)

Bad Bunny's avatar

Would that be Ieyasu Tokugawa? A good fella to invoke. He didn't put up with any bullshit. 👺

Nancy's avatar

LOL! "Well, that's what I /heard/..." --Peter Venkman, /Ghostbusters/ (ad-libbed by Bill Murray ;D)

And yep, the first Tokugawa of that shogunate dynasty is considered a kami now. Got his own shrine and everything! :)

I'm enjoying the schadenfreude! Hillbillies on rural Medicaid, Red-state weirdos, white males, Latino men, stay-at-home Gen-Z'ers (male), and white females overall, yes (but not me!)..... A lot of them now don't want to admit they were so ill-informed (to put it nicely) and voting against their own interests!

BJTS's avatar

I sent a gift subscription to someone I know voted for 47. They probably don’t read it, but I have the satisfaction of sending more income to God, and the knowledge that they might have at least read the first one because they didn’t know what it was. 😈

Lisa Nystrom's avatar

The real oxymoron is the fact that you impose tariffs in a free market society to discourage healthy competition (lower prices). Spiteful and greedy…selfishness is what it is…

Mary Busch's avatar

Lisa, I've been thinking the same thing too. I'll go you one better. tRump is wielding tariffs in such a total and unilateral way that he is effectively stifling free markets and therefore using the government to control the markets. What is the definition of communism? Centralized control of the markets by the government. Ergo, tRump is a communist. I rest my case.

Nancy's avatar

There was this female commentator calling herself "a MAGA leftist"...

I was scratching my head at the oxymoron when I figured, "Hmm! Does that mean she went so far to the Right that she's coming in from the extreme Left now?" /ponder

Nancy's avatar

And even McKinley turned his back on them after awhile, after he realized THEY DON'T WORK. Politicians since then have had people giving them the fish eye for merely imposing quotas... X-P

Anna Oba's avatar

Sorry you lost subscribers. If delighting in schadenfreude makes them uncomfortable, you’re not their jam. Personally, that’s one of the main reasons I have a paid subscription.

Meg McDonald's avatar

Thanks, God! Folks who are mad at you for mocking trump’s (former?) true believers are like those sweet and gentle people who tell me we shouldn’t follow the news because it’s bad for our mental health. Sweet oblivion.

Bob L's avatar

"Weeping into the algorithm" LMAO

CL Tee's avatar

THAT reader knew what he signed up for. Good riddance, but so sorry about the loss of the subscription income. Most of us aren't going anywhere, God. Carry on with your wit and wisdom.

Why not put that home schooling to work? All over the country, get the kids lined up on sewing machines and singing hymns as they make talking Jesus dolls. Call it "Jesuswept Shops"!

This brings to mind a saying I haven’t heard in a while. Something about If you lie with dogs, don’t be surprised when you wake with fleas. Only this time, it may be a fatal case of distemper.
