I dropped Amazon years ago when I read about how the Beast of Bezos exploits his workers. I mean, some of them need welfare assistance to survive, on top of being hounded at work, and the Beast has more $ than he could spend in a thousand lifetimes. Recently I watched the six episode Netlix series "Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial", based on several of William L. Shirer's books, mostly The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. It's is partly archival footage, partly recreations with archival audio, partly voice-over narration by Shirer -- except (if I read the opening stuff correctly) it's a recreation of his voice. That last part is kind of creepy, but the series is riveting. It could be Trump's playbook. The US has lasted more than 10 times as long as the Weimar Republic, but now, as then, the oligarchs were sick of that democracy crap and in Hitler/Trump they've found someone who will do away with what's left of it. And do away with progressive ideas (like accepting trans kids, immigrants, women), labor unions, and of course socialism or communism.
Hitler was a mediocrity, but his deranged speeches for the Nazi Party captured the listeners. They were perfectly fine with him characterizing Jews as subhuman, stupid animals, and on the other hand controlling the banks and thus global finance and industry. And of course on the third hand, promoting Bolshevism, which would... I could never figure out how that was supposed to work, but Hitler's followers never minded. They'd have eagerly drunk Clorox for him.
The Western powers were happy to let Hitler conquer and occupy the the resource rich industrialized nations so he could build up a force to destroy the USSR. The plan, I believe, was that Germany and Russia would destroy each other in that conflagration, and then the Allies could roll in and put friendly governments in place, in Germany and all the way to the east. Big surprise when the Soviets turned Hitler's army around and started pushing west -- if the US hadn't decided to join the European war, Stalin's troops would have pushed all the way to the Atlantic. What is the similar power that can save us now?
Trump was loose again exercising his ego on Canada today when Trudeau resigned. Why isn’t the media having some fun calling BS and smoking him out on how many states? Senators and Congressional districts? Call his bluff. He has the conceptual depth and factual grasp of a mollusk. Make him show how dense he is or make him insult a major NATO ally some more. Left and right coasts of Canada pure liberal (US definition) Between the coasts is mixed but the conservatives in Canada are sane (with some exceptions) .
Canada could fuck with him and say “4 states and same population rules in the house)” Trump would swallow his limited brain. He would have no idea what to say.
